I talked with Stainless Steel Brakes this morning to see if they have a kit for the 2500/3500 Rams and they don't. They have do have a kit for 1500's which costs 795. 00

I asked if they had plans to develop a kit and was told no; however, when I asked how may people it would take to get them working on it he said about 50. I think there are a few more than 50 on the list who would be interested.

If you want to motivate them, speak up.

If they can make them for less than the cost of a good engine brake, I am interested.

If the cost is more, I don't see the point in it.

Someone posted the bit about installing 3500 pistons ~100andchange and that seemed like a great idea... if only I could find that thread... .

David,

The 3500 wheel cylinders are a direct bolt in replacement for the 2500 cylinders. Just a few minutes work to do it. The only difference is that the pistons are larger. I can really tell the difference for a hard stop. I think I paid about $35 each for them at NAPA.

Joe G, I inquired to my dealer about the 3500 brake cylinders for the rear. They told me that they are only good if you are "heavy" all the time. Otherwise the rear brakes are always locking up too early and messing up the anti-lock system (when empty). Have you (or any one else) experienced this problem?

243, I'm interested.

Gary

Well, I stopped VERY hard once for a deer in my lane at night on US101 and no problems. He moved or I would have got him. No skid so the RWAL was working ok. It was shaking my foot so it was doing it's thing. OOPs forget to say that it was empty.

Well, the disc brake kit may be a long way out or never be an option so I will try the 3500 wheel cylinders. I want disc brakes because they are easier to maintain, easier to clean after being off road, lessen unsprung weight, no 3K adjustment; and maybe, no more brake pull.

would be interested to see what they have to offer and how it all mounts when they get it together. the dealer installed for me when the 3500 wheel cylinders and I have not had any problem out of the back brakes since that time I do tow a 1400 pd tracktor and trailer and stoping is no problem. I did get a set of reybestis life time pro stop brake pads for the front and have working great well worth the money

Hi guys,

Just a point of information, the 2000/2001 2500 and 3500 use the same rear wheel cylinders (1" bore I believe, I don't have the service book in front of me right now).

This may seem like a dumb question, but why would you want to trade the drum brakes ,with a large braking surface area, for the much smaller surface area on a disk brake? Whouldn't that reduce your ability to stop a heavy load?

I was just wondering if you could rob the disc brakes off of a Super Doody F-350 with the Dana 80? They should already be showing up in local junkyards enough to fill our needs. So I say,Why wait for some one to come out with this product and charge us an arm and a Cummins. Please someone do a little research!

Is robbing these brakes off a Super Doody sacreligious to our TDR Bible?

honorable components should be given honorable duty, even if that means cross-brand cannibalism. If they'll fit and function, put them under an honorable truck-- the discs had no choice about being under a Brand F--

i don't know about you guys but my 2000 with 4Whl ABS stops just fine , and i haven't seen rear wheel discs worth a damm on anything that doesn't run nascar , rear discs turned me off the GM offerings , among other things ... you can have 'em

A buddy of mine has a 90 phord superduty and it has disc-brakes and they work great. I would be interested in a set if it wasn't to money out of my BOMB fund. #ad
