I put all of my gauges in they are great! But my egt acts up when I turn the key off. It reads 600 and slowly drops. Can you tell me if this is normal or why it does this?

<font color=blue>Where did you tap into power for your gauges? When you turn on the ignition does it correct itself right away? Mine jumps to around 400&deg; or so when I turn off the igniton, I figure its just the energizing and deenergizing of the circuit causing it, not too worried bout it... . yet. If I turn on the ignition then it will goto ambeint temp (unless the truck is warm)..... What brand of gauges do you have? I can't remeber, I was too busy looking at your valve cover #ad
And wearing out my tires so I can get new ones... ... hehehe

My DiPricol EGT gauge has no 12v power except for the lights, so turning on the ignition does not affect the reading at all.
I thought all the EGT gauges (except for the digitals) worked this way, but probably thought wrong, for the first time in my life, LOL.

All autometer electric guages do this(if thats what brand you have. That is just where they rest. I know the tach on my barracuda is the same way. As soon as you turn power to it, it goes to zero. My . 02

Yes I do have autometer gauges. If they all do that I will calm down about it.

On another subject I cant't make more than 15 lb's of boost. All of the clamps are tight there are no kinks or leaks. Is there anything else I could check?

Thanks for replies

I have an Autometer EGT gauge and it does the same thing yours does. Completely normal. Nothing to worry about.

Make sure your Boost gauge tubing does not have a kink in it anywhere. Mine did at one time.

You guys' gages go back up to 600 then down again after you've already let it cool down to 300??? Wierd. JKloppe, I think 15psi is about right if your truck is mostly stock. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I should be able to hit almost 20.
I am still stumped with my low numbers I have checked everthing 20 times. I received an e-mail and it suggested that I get a reflash. If that works do you think I would get worse mpg. I get 14. 2 right now with a heavy right foot. Maybe I just don't understand how reflashes work.

Talk to Alex (BigA) and Kevin (K_Arts) about a reflash. They both had a "Weird" reflash done by CastleRock and as far as I know they both like it? I get 14. 5 to 15. 5 mpg 50% #1 diesel with a very heavy throttle foot..... ask anyone who has rode with me #ad

On your gauges, where do you tap into for your boost reading??? You should get 18 to 20psi stock I would think.

KAT- after I saw you where you taped for yours. I put mine arond on the back of the manafold. It seemed to make more sense.

From riding with you I would agree you do have a very heavy right foot. I think it was 0-60 in 9. 59 sec. Are you going to put all of your goodies on your truck, or have bill do it? Because I would like to be part of the fun. (HX-40, ats manafold, etc... ) What injectors are you putting in?

Well ya I think it was 9. 5 something in Level II on the PE, I should ahve put it in Level III! (Not used to using it) Anyhow couple people that rode with me said they thought the torque converter was slipping, so hopefully it will be a better time soon. Only made 1 run with the Gtech because I couldn't get it to work right I think if I had another couple of tries could get it down to 9. 0 or so for now.

I had to cancel my trip to see Bill due to work issues . #ad
So I am not adding a thing in regards to HP until I address the TC since I can slip it now with just the PE.

Well I am gonna look around here for a shop that will work with me to install the rest A)Because its too **** cold out lately, B)I sold my Snap-On toolset when I left CAT and moved here so I don't have many tools, C)Its just too **** cold out ... . see a pattern here? Hehe

My HX40 is on its way to Majestic Turbo right now for some prepping, and my ATS Manifold is on its way to JetHot to be coated.

I am gonig with Diesel Dynamic III's. I am also pondering letting the Diesel Dynamics dealer there in CO install some of the stuff because I am interested in their mechanical modification of the VP44 pump... ... . but thats kind of a long shot right now.

I think I answered all your questions... ... what size is your turbo? 12cm&sup2: Just curious. How bout changing out the elbow and see if you can get it anyhigher? If you need an elbow I can get you one. I can hit 25psi with my PE turned off.
