Wonder what the odds would have been?

Most of you have no idea who I'm talking about.
Maybe the news is different where you live, but I've not seen nor heard anything about the death of Dwane Hickman (dobie gillis) the other day.

You may have heard of his buddy on his tv show, Maynard G Crebbs who went on to be Gilligan (sp?) on Giligans Island. But in the very late and early 1960's, everyone knew who Dobie Gillis was. And certainly one of his girl friends, Tuesday Weld.

Ok, this is right at the edge of my memory as a child. My wife and I used to watch the reruns of the "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis" not long after we were married. It was far more interesting as an adult than it was when I was a kid. Since I am not one to follow actors or their careers, I had not heard that he had passed. After taking a look it is obvious that he had much more talent than just acting. RIP Dwayne.

The only constant in life is change.

Thanks, Tractorat for letting the rest of us know.

I saw an online article last night on those we lost in 2022 which listed him. Dwane was certainly a talented multifaceted individual. I find it hard to believe he was 87. I still see him as a "teenager" in Dobie Gillis. The wife and I have enjoyed all his acting portrayals throughout the years. RIP Dwane.
A little trivia piece:
Trivia
The series served as one of the influences in the development of the Hanna-Barbera cartoon Scooby Doo, Where Are You! (1969). In it, the character of Fred Jones was based on Dobie Gillis; Velma Dinkley on Zelda Gilroy; Daphne Blake on Thalia Menninger; and Norville "Shaggy" Rogers on Maynard G. Krebs.
