My Dad would definatly trade in his 2001 Duramax/Allison Chevy For a 6 Speed auto Dodge Cummins.
DC Needs to do this auto up-grade PRONTO , and keep Cummins in their trucks.

Just my $0. 02

Wonder if it will fit in our current Ram trucks. HVAC, are you reading this? Here's the automatic you really need heh heh.

holy cow #ad
... look at the size of that thing ... plus its ONLY rated to 860 ft/lbs ? HVAC would take care of that in short order ... also whats this "@ PEDAL" thing ?? didn't fully read it .

Not only would this be a vast improvement over the current auto, but even with an ISB300 in front, it should prolong driveline life. Friends who have gone to this type of transmission in their over-the-road rigs claim it evens out the mileadge so the poorer drivers get as good a mileadge as their best.

How much does it weigh? cost??

Dodge should have just used an Allison HD3060 transmission (as an option) from the start. I have one behind an 8. 3 Cummins in a motohome weighing in at 41,000#, and that things works like a champ. Just put it in gear and mash the pedal. Double overdrive and it even has a built in retarder to automatically downshift and turn on the exhaust brake when coming down out of the mountains. This is one sweet setup. Maybe someday!!

If I am not mistaken, the "3-pedal" thing is an automated transmission, not and automatic transmsission. The difference is when driving an automated trans, you push the clutch in only when starting or stopping. All shifting is done automatically. These are becoming more widespread in the Class 8 market.

“The new Eaton Fuller Automatic 6-Speed combines the performance, efficiency and reliability of an automatic with the simplicity and serviceability of an industry-preferred and industry-proven manual transmission. "

What??
Seems to me like the performance, efficiency, and reliability of the automatic transmission is the reason so many buy manual trannies.

Great idea, A manual trans, with a computer shifting it, and an automatic clutch.
No more planatary gear sets to melt (OD), no more converters to fry, etc. It already uses the correct format to talk to the ECU, has an "anti abuse system" built in, a switch to hold it in gear, and all operates from a push button panal! Some of you guys would remember when dodge has push button shifters on there trans.

Bad News, the trans hump required to fit that baby would only allow bucket seats! They could but cup holders right on the trans hump!

How much is this transmission?
