HD Snow Blowers

Ok,

In several years of being around Dodge Cummins trucks and reading hundreds of post on the forums.

I have noticed that many have to argue or fight with their Chrysler/Dodge dealership to get things fixed and paid for by the warranty that is promised to them when they purchased the vehicle.

The same warranty that the dealer pushes to sell the vehicle.

I guess what my question is:

What happens to all the dealerships that charge twice for one piece of work?

Like say a lift pump replacement on a 2nd gen truck:

1. Unknowing non-tdr customer reports faithfully to their chrysler dealer that their truck is not running correctly.

2. Same dealership says: "bring it in, we'll look at it".

3. Truck is fixed, dealer installs new transfer pump.

4. Customer is handed bill and is told that this is not covered under warranty.

5. Customer pays bill in good faith (has no choice).

6. Dealership charges back DCX/Cummins for warranty part and labor.

7. Dealership is paid twice for the one piece of work.

How often is this happening and why is nothing being done about it?

The other thing I often wonder about is if they just bill people because it is easier to get paid that way. My cousin owns a business that processes the warranty claim paperwork for several dealerships. Basically, if the forms are not filled out exactly to the T, the dealership will be denied payment by the manufacture. I think this is why so many dealerships are hesitant to perform work until they get approval by the powers that be. So by handing the bill to the customer, they are getting their payment right now instead of having to deal with DC or ford or GM or whoever. Sucks, for us, but I guess when dealing with dealerships, it pays to be a pain in the you know what. Shouldn't work that way, but... .

All warranty worked is logged and recorded on the Dodge computer system. You could go to another dealer and ask them to run the warranty history on your truck and see if they double billed. If so, you have a law suit on your hands and the dealer could be out of business.

the double billing happens in the big truck world too. I caught Worldwide Equipment doing it several years ago.

How'd you catch them doing it? Sounds like the makings of a good story...
