Friday I was driving down I-5 approaching Redding, CA. I see a big Ford 4X4 show truck on a gooseneck trailer pulled by (gasp!) a 3500 Dodge dually.

That reminds me of the time had to haul my brothers truck ('97 f350 crewcab 4x4 powerstroke) with my 93 w250. His lifted ford dwarfs my truck as far as size goes.

It was kind of funny that his truck died about a mile from the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, which he'd just left. The worst thing about hauling the ford was that my camera was not working at the time and the only pictures we got are stuck on my dads camera phone. For some reason my brother wouldn't take any pics with his camera :-laf

I does seem to be a regional thing. For whatever reason, in So. Oregon it seems the diesel Dodges outnumber the Fords and Chevys combined. I'm not sure what accounts for this, but I just had my vision checked and it was 20/20.

its the amount of dealers i think. lithia keeps tons of ctd's in stock. id say the fords are about tied here. they all have a 6 inch lift and 35's too  i live 26 miles south of grants pass

I'm one of the biggest fans of Dodge and Cummins that is out there, but I think that many of you may need to clean your glasses. There are A LOT of CTDs out there, but to say that they out number the Duraduds and Sick. Ohs is a little overly optimistic. While I haven't seen the sales numbers broken down to diesels only, I know that Chevy outsells Dodge more than 2 to 1, with Ford having an even bigger lead.

Come out west. You'll definately change your mind about who has more trucks on the road! Cummins rules the PNW.

My experience, coming through CA in April, was that Dodge outnumbers Ford and Chevy when pulling big loads.

The only 2 trucks to pass me on (I think what is known as the grapevine) were 2 modded Dodge Cummins diesels with medium-sized fifth wheels. I was pulling a 6500 pound car trailer with a '91 F-350, so really no fair comparison...

Why is it that the BIGGEST loads I see pulled are being pulled by Cummins? 9 horse trailers and large (53'??) enclosed car trailers.

There seems to be a trend, in my years of observation. I'm new to the Dodge/Cummins, but it seems like there must be an explanation for what I've seen over the past few years of driving my '91 Ford.
