Dodge Cummins Wannabe

Hi all, I am new to this forum and I am looking forward to learning all about the Dodge Cummins. My nephew who also subscribes to the TDR has been working on me to buy a Dodge Cummins for 12 months now. Well that day is coming soon. I have been in negotiations for the last couple of days with the truck sales guys trying to find the right truck at the right price and we are getting very close. With a little luck and a tail wind I should have one of these babies parked in my driveway by this weekend.

Just thought I would introduce myself and say Hi.

The new truck will be a 2500 4X4 quad cab, SB, 5 spd manual, SLT with cloth seats and some other stuff too much to list.

A new owner myself-sorta

I have had my truck for over a year now and I like it as much as the day I got it, maybe more. In the coming months, I bet the gas wars will be going on more and more. I have noticed that the diesel prices seem to remain constant or rise and fall slowly at least where I am at anyway.....

The diesel get almost as good a mileage as a small SUV but is able to pull 13k lbs! i went to reno and back and got almost 20 MPG! and that is with the truck weiging in at 7600 lbs! I have added stuff and a shell and off-road tires wich has decreased my mileage 2-3 MPG I have 15K now on the clock and it gets better every day. I love it! the body will fall off before the engine wears out!

Hope you get one, the guys here are great and the advice is well worth the $35/yr.

new truck

welcome... ... . i'm fairly new also--truck is two months old with 5k miles. BEWARE!!!! BOMBitis will probably strike. parts will fall off or get stolen (snorkel, silencer ring, muffler, resonator, etc. ) gauges reading funny data will appear, probably on the A-pillar. you'll get power hungry.

btw, i LOVE th' truck MORE each day.

Yeah, I grew up on a farm driving and working on our diesel tractors, then went to college and got a job as a computer analyst. I sure missed the sound and feel of a diesel. Well, this summer I finally got my truck, and after 15 years away from the farm, I feel a lot more at home. Not everyone understands, but I'm sure all you guys here do! Anyway, I hope you get your diesel. Aside from all the mechanical advantages the Cummins has, it sure sounds a lot more muscular than those tinny Ford and Chevy v-8s. Why the heck do they stick with the V-8? I would figure they would learn by now. Sometimes I think they are so stubborn they refuse to admit their own mistakes.

Enjoy it !!! I have had mine for 10 months now, look forward to driving every day. Don't know why I have a radio, still spend most of my time behind the wheel with the radio off and the windows down, gotta love the Cummins !!!!!

Well thanks so much for the warm welcome I can see this is the place to be to yak about the CUMMINS. As for BOMBitis I got it already my nephew (Shawn. L. Turbo) and I vacationed together this summer and I think he passed it on to me. Is there a cure? Geewiz it must be very contagious cos I only rode in his truck a half dozen times.

dformstone, you might want to take a look at the thread "addiction" on the non drivetrain forum. it'll warn you about what is to come. i grew up on the farm also, and went off to school and became a doctor man. i guess i must have worked on about every piece of equipment there was on the farm. i've continued, over the years. don't use as much bailing wire nowadays as i did then. seems like you can't get any GOOD bailing wire nowadays... ... ... .
