My stock 06 - 2500, 18 months old with 15,500 miles required a new turbo because the original was making excessive noise.
The Service Manager assured me prior to scheduling the work that the replacement turbo would be brand new in a box from Cummins/Mopar.
With the turbo now replaced I was looking at the work order and noticed the replacement turbo part # is R5143256AA.
I did a Google search on that part # and it took me to a Chrysler page that lists Cummins REMANUFACTURED parts.
I am getting ready to confront the Service Manager with what I have discovered and I am wondering if anyone else has had warranty repairs on a new truck completed with used parts.
I strongly believe that the turbo should have been replaced with a brand new unit.
If I had bought a used truck for much less $ with some miles on it, I could understand using a reman. in that situation.
I realize the reman. is probably fine in the short run if it does'nt fail right off the bat. On the other hand there are other issues that may cause a reman. to fail much sooner in the long run but more likely after the 100K warranty has passed.
Any of your advice on this issue would be greatly appreciated!
