Ran across this and thought it was interesting:

"Dependability" is a common enough word today, but it did not begin appearing in dictionaries until the early '30s. It was a word coined by the men who sold the cars that John and Horace Dodge began building in late 1914.

Letters from buyers of those early Dodges praised the car's power and rugged construction, but their most consistent comment was that the car could be depended upon. It did not take Dodge marketing people long to begin talking about the car's "dependability. " The word was invented by Theodore MacManus,a Dodge advertising executive.

Bet you guys didn't know Dodge's contribution to the English language,I sure didn't.

My 1981 Dodge Diplomat has 322,273 miles. One starter, one radiator, 2 front rotors, 3 sets front brake pads, 2 sets rear shoes, 4 mufflers and tailpipes, can't remeber tires. I will buy no other brand of vehicle.

I onced owned a 76 1/2T 4X4 Dodge with full full time 4wheel drive, 360CID, and auto. On the day I sold it, I said that I would never own another Dodge. Fast forward 15 years, I wanted a Cummins, but the only truck you could get it in was Dodge. I finally decided, against what I thought was my better judgement, to buy my 3500 Dodge. I was just going to have a sign painted on the back that read, "IF YOU DIDN'T BUY A CUMMINS, WHY DID YOU BY A DODGE". Well I flew to Idaho to Dave Smith Motors to pick my truck and I was not half way home, when I realized this was with-out a doubt the best Truck money could buy. I just haven't found the time for that sign yet.

I bought the Dodge because if its bullet proof parts and the torque and fuel mileage of the Cummins
1) Cummins! Nuff said?
2) Dana 80 #ad
in the rear
3) Dana 60 in the front
4) NV5600 - 390lbs of beefy transmission
5) Great heavy duty frame
6) Minimum of fluff add-ons that could fail
7) Most comfy seat of all the manufacturers #ad

My dad has a 1980 Model Crew Cab Dually Dodge. As far as i can remember(I am only two years older that the truck) it has only broke down once(which was due to the fuel tank switch somehow blocking off both tanks?) The thing is built like a brick Sh*thouse. Factory 16. 5 rims. Massive wheel studs with a torque spec of 360ft lbs. Dana 70 behind a 360 Auto. The thing is just stout period. My ram is built heavy but not like the old ones. One thing to consider is this truck only has 65K on it to the date lol. I think when/if the motor goes it should be replaced with a B series cummins what about you guys?
