My personal favorite (maybe its just where i live) is, "man that thing is loud, you should cut out your muffler and make it really loud!"
I one time almost got into a full blown argument with some idiot at the Dodge dealership (not an employee) no less. He informed me that '94 was the first year Dodge used Cummins engines, and the previous owner of my truck transplanted the Cummins into it. Nothing I could say would convince him otherwise.
Those are the ones that really get me. Not the people who know nothing about vehicles, but the people who THINK they know everything about vehicles. Like the Ford guy who tells you that you are an idiot for thinking your diesel doesn't have glow plugs, because "all diesels have glow plugs"

You are not alone. (I'm cheating because mine isn't a Dodge, but reading this thread is fun. )
I called the company that made my Motorhome (1990) for some info last summer. They have a pretty good rep for service but time does pass.
When I told the guy on the phone that my rig was a front engine diesel, he laughed and informed me they had never made a front engine diesel, and someone must have switched it out. I asked if he could get the oldest person in the place and call me back.
Sure enough I got a call back and was told they had made a few but they didn't hear from them often.
