I read several posts earlier in the year about adding a dimming rear view mirror to an 03 or 04 truck. Some people thought that the wiring was in place, whether you had the dimming mirror or not, and all you had to do was buy the mirror and pull the liner down to access the wiring. Others were not sure, and some thought the wiring was not there at all.

I recently had some pretty bad hail damage and I am having my roof replaced. I dropped by the body shop when they pulled the liner out Monday and low and behold the wiring was there. I had them buy a new dimming mirror from Dodge (195. 00) and am having them stick it on the windshield that is being replaced as well, it just plugs right in.

Just FYI, for those wanting a dimming mirror that did not get one.

The little things in life are important too.

HOPE YOU DON'T HAVE TINTED BACK WINDOW, THEY DO NOT SEEM TO WORK SO HOT WITH THE TINTED BACK WINDOW. NOT MUCH LIGHT TO SET IT OFF. OOPPS NO I am not yelling!! Sorry

Mine has the factory tint and the auto dimming position appears to work quite well.

I had the clear back window and noticed the green tint effect at night in the auto dim rear view mirrow. Now that the back window is tinted, I see no green effect. The green tint effect at night was kinda weird IMHO.

Same here. Mine works great as did the one's in my 94 and 98. 5 with the tinted rear windows.

I have the autodim feature and hate it. I can't see if those headlights in my mirror are Five-O or not. On the 2nd gen. , you could permanently defeat it (which I did). The 3rd. gen resets itself each time you cycle the key. PITA with the tinted slider as far as I'm concerned. I think I've actually used the mirror dimmer less than a handful of times in 25yrs. of driving, and I've logged a lot of miles. Just my $0. 02.
