I am in the inside lane of 3 at the light to get where I want to be, I have to accelerate and move right across 2 lanes to get to where I want to turn right. Told my lovely bride I would have to accelerate quickly, so she would not be surprised. I also said the BMW next to me, might not like the big Dodge beating him off the line, so watch him for me. So we get the green, and I start to move. As the truck shifts into 2nd, I feed in more throttle. I see the BMW in my right mirror, about 10 ft. off my rear wheel, and as I am watching his front end comes up and he starts to move up. I push the throttle all the way to the floor, and just let the 6. 7 and the auto trans do their thing. The car recedes in the mirrors, and I signal right, and slow and turn. He had tinted windows, I would've liked to see the look on his face.

"onward thru the fog"

quote - "I push the throttle all the way to the floor"

maybe, he couldn't see where he was going in the cloud of fog (smoke) :D

Before you bragg to much I actually wonder if the BMW driver even cared what you did. Reading your story makes it seem like you punched it because he was next to you. Depending on the BMW he could most likely smoke you if he wanted to.

Because another truck (or car) beats me leaving a light does not mean my car or truck is slow. Just means I don't care to race.

When someone storms of the line I think to myself that idiot must be in a hurry to get somewhere real important:)

I have yet to see black smoke out of the pipe, no matter what gear or throttle position.

And, I don't think he lifted until he saw my signal, if he hadn't eased off then, I would have let the exhaust brake slow the truck, and eased in behind him and moved over to make my turn.

Of course I punched it because he was next to me, we were both the lead cars in our lanes, I wanted to get over, and when was the last time you put on your signal, and someone actually slowed to let you move. DUH... .

As far as whether or not he cared what I did, the most obvious sign was his decision to change his rate of acceleration, bring his front end up, and start moving up on me.

I do admit to a bit of profiling, the BMW was lowered, with low profile tires, and dark tinted windows, plus it was a 2-door, 3-series, (if they still make those)

Most of the time I drive like the proverbial old lady, every so often I still like to get it on. Usually not on the street, but poor planning on my part precipitated a need to get over. I strongly advocate running hard on the track, and have spent many hours there, on 2 wheels and in 4.
