I have been counting Chevy, Ford and Dodges pulling 5th wheels between home in NW Washington and just North of San Francisco. We loose by a lot. Chris

We took a trip to Yellowstone and Mount Rushmore in May, thru Arizona,Utah,Wyoming,South Dakota,Colorado,New Mexico and Dodges won 3 to 1 at that time.

Ditto

We did close to the same trip.

Left So Ca through Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, then back home.

Way more Dodges than Chevs and Fords, over in those area's.

And MacDonald's sells lots more burgers than TGI Fridays.

Exactly, most people buy because of what the neighbor has or what they think looks "cool". Very few people educate themselves before they buy.

No actually, the drivers of those trucks are the losers! :)

I did a count back in March from southern New Mexico on I-25 to Arkansas on I-40 and Dodges pulling real loads (goosenecks, stock trailers, and RVs) were way more than the other two. I actually saw a Toyota Tundra pulling a 5th wheel RV.

Right on jumbo jet!Made a trip from FL. to canada this is the way it stacked up. horse trailers ford #1 chevy&dodgetied . RVs ford still just alittle more trucks out. Then hotshots-heavy eqmt. -fema trailers(just after katina)ovre wellmingly dodge!

Parked in Novato this afternoon and went into San Francisco, we were the only Dodge going down Lombard Street. People looked at like we were crazy. Too slow winding down the hill to use the exhaust brake. Drats. SNOKING

Interesting. At the drag races last weekend out of 50+ trucks there were only about 15 Fords and Chevy's combined. Lot's of Dodges.

It seems that here in the Rocky Mountain region where you need torque the Dodge/Cummins combination is a lot more popular. When I lived in Colorado there were people that complained about the early 6. 0 Ford overheating when going over some of the passes. The same with some of the Duramaxes.

My brother in-law counted 5 Fords... on the side of the road, hood up.

They were trying to pull trailers.

He was traveling from So. CA to Reno in July.

Does this count?

Brian

I have only seen one dead unit on the side of the road. It was on a good pull South of Crescent City, Ca. It was a Duramax, hood up and CHP putting out flares.

Remember in starting this tread I stated that I was counting only trucks pulling 5th wheels.

By the way, the 55 MPH in California sucks. My rig runs best at around 62-63. SNOKING

We just finished up an RV dealership here in Utah and have been working next door remodeling another building, so I have been watching what comes in and out of the dealership.

This is what I have seen in the last month,

Hotshots delivering new RV's= 1 ford to every 10 dodges, only d-max was a 5500 (nice looking rig)

General public towing TT= 30% f-250's, 40% Chev 1500's & 2500's, 20% dodge 1500's & 2500's. The other 10% is all those that we either pass real quick or stay way back off of, Like the ford explorer I seen the other day that had a 20' TT hooked to it with an open 4 place atv trailer behind the TT with 4 polaris sportsman's on it.

General public towing 5er's (not including toy haulers)= 35% D-max mostly 3500's, 45% Dodge CTD 2500 & 3500, 15% Ford mostly F-350 srw looking at the clouds for guidance. The other 5% is a mix of Chev 45 & 5500 D-maxes, occasional Kenworth or freightliner.

General publis towing 5er's (including toy haulers)= 65% Dodge CTD 3500 DRW, 15% Chev D-max 3500 DRW, 5% Ford F-350 DRW. The remaining 15% is Chev 45 & 5500 D-maxes and the occasional Freightliner, Kenworth, Peterbuilt and F-450's.

With that said, I beleive Dodge is really missing out on a large piece of the pie by not having a cab and chasis available in the 4500-5500 market. Everytime I walk out on the dealerships lot and have to see all cab over style motorhomes sitting on chev and Ford engines and drivetrain I ask myself why no DODGE?

I was just trying to be funny.

"Remember in starting this tread I stated that I was counting only trucks pulling 5th wheels. "

My B-in-L didn't say if the trailers were a 5'r or TT. He just saw Fords on the side of the road.

He likes my Dodge.

"By the way, the 55 MPH in California sucks. My rig runs best at around 62-63. SNOKING"

That's what I run. Haven't been hassled for 5-6mph over.

Well in SW New Mexico where I'm from the 7. 3 ruled the roost for about 5 years, but as soon as the 6 liter came out, they faded out and when you go to Wal-Mart now you'll see a lot more new Cummins than Furds now. There are a few DaraMax's, but Cummins is comin on strong. The Ranch I worked on in High School had two 92 250's and 1 95, those things where awesome, was a Cummins luver from then on... . I always knew when lunch was coming!!! Cummins sound rolling through the valley... Went home on leave last Thanksgiving and went out to see my ol' friends the trucks are still running strong, but the transmission's are hurting...

Im spending the night in a campground in Big Timber Montana. I counted 3 fords, 3 chevys, and 2 Dodges (one of those is mine)

BTW, I saw a sign either yesterday or today, ( I dont remember if it was in Washington, Idaho, or Montana) that said that pickup trucks pulling RV trailers have to drive at the same speed as the big rigs (60mph in Wa). Has anyone seen that before ? I keep it under 60 just get get better gas mileage. But I see a lot of rigs going by me at 70 or 75 or more.
