We just finished up an RV dealership here in Utah and have been working next door remodeling another building, so I have been watching what comes in and out of the dealership.
This is what I have seen in the last month,
Hotshots delivering new RV's= 1 ford to every 10 dodges, only d-max was a 5500 (nice looking rig)
General public towing TT= 30% f-250's, 40% Chev 1500's & 2500's, 20% dodge 1500's & 2500's. The other 10% is all those that we either pass real quick or stay way back off of, Like the ford explorer I seen the other day that had a 20' TT hooked to it with an open 4 place atv trailer behind the TT with 4 polaris sportsman's on it.
General public towing 5er's (not including toy haulers)= 35% D-max mostly 3500's, 45% Dodge CTD 2500 & 3500, 15% Ford mostly F-350 srw looking at the clouds for guidance. The other 5% is a mix of Chev 45 & 5500 D-maxes, occasional Kenworth or freightliner.
General publis towing 5er's (including toy haulers)= 65% Dodge CTD 3500 DRW, 15% Chev D-max 3500 DRW, 5% Ford F-350 DRW. The remaining 15% is Chev 45 & 5500 D-maxes and the occasional Freightliner, Kenworth, Peterbuilt and F-450's.
With that said, I beleive Dodge is really missing out on a large piece of the pie by not having a cab and chasis available in the 4500-5500 market. Everytime I walk out on the dealerships lot and have to see all cab over style motorhomes sitting on chev and Ford engines and drivetrain I ask myself why no DODGE?
