Snow depth on roads requiring CHAINS

Tork Lift Setup

Towed something a little different today. The neighbor had cut down a large dead oak tree and left the log in the road ditch. He and his father-in -law had spent two days cutting up the tree but the Kubota 4x4 tractor they had could not budge the log out of the ditch to work on. Today I was going down the road and decided to back my old dodge up to the log and see if it would pull it since my son and I used to drag tree tops out of the woods with the last truck I had. Log was red oak , 18 feet long , 27 inches on the butt end. I turned the drop hitch upside down so I could put more weight of the log on the truck, put it in 4x4 . . hooked up short and up the road I went. Couldn't believe I didn't spin out until I was well up into the field on soft dirt. Old truck sounded real good and made me proud:D :D Wife started laughing about what the neighbor was going to think when he got home:rolleyes: By the way, his ford is in the shop with the transmission out. this transmission lasted 364 days ( 1 day short of a year) .

I tried the same thing a couple months ago with a little bigger log. That's when I foung out that on wet grass the Michelin M/S means "mighty slick". I hate street tires, why do they put them on a 4x4? rolltideram
