6' X 12' Cargo Trailers

Contacted dealer for the parts for TSB 02-001-01 ( rear of vehicle sits to high to allow hook up to a fifth wheel trailer) stealer quoted parts cost of $800. 00. :--) Can this be corrrect. Surley an aftermarket kit is available??

I just got the same news, $700 for the kit. I called a local spring shop, $40 for new shorter spring blocks, $20 for new U bolts and $40 to install. I figure I will check the shocks to see if there is a bottoming problem and get ones that are a little shorter if needed, old ones are shot any way so no big deal. Next step for me is getting rid of the over loads and replacing them with Air Lift HD Bags and a on board compressor. If anyone has a clue what is in the "$700 mega kit" please let me know.

Seem like later models also needed a sensing bar, I think it was for the brakes, not sure. This has been hashed over on TDR many times. Might try "search". On my '95 I used same shocks and no sensor on older models! Prices on above post are very good! I made own spacers, went with 9/16" "U" bolts. jps

I had my dealer do mine under warranty. I'm happy with it. If you have to pay for it, you can do better by going to a shop and have them cut the spacers, etc.

I believe the Mopar lowering kit includes new shocks and a tapered spring block to correct for the driveshaft angle. Canadian price is about $1200  That's $600 per inch. I think I'll live with the way it is.

I just read the TSB for the first time. Read this!

NOTE: CURB HEIGHT LOWERING PACKAGES CANNOT BE INSTALLED ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AUXILIARY SPRINGS (SALES CODE XZB OR CAMPER SPECIAL PACKAGE AHJ) UNLESS THE AUXILIARY SPRINGS AND SPACERS ARE REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE

that would suck, you paid for a camper special package, and they tell you you have to take the springs off so you can lower the truck for your 5er, but now your springs are to weak to tow your 5er. No thanks. Glad I bought a 2wd.
