Anybody read "Financial Times"?

My Ol' man's at it again!! (Homebuilt experimental aircraft)

My wife and I are interested in a Dodge Magnum. We typically custom order our vehicles since we get the Chrysler employee discounts and don't have to haggle.

Do any of you out there who work at dealerships know what the approximate delivery time is for custom orders? We'd be looking at the RT model with the Hemi and 5 speed auto, if it is available, I'd also like the All-wheel-drive version.

Depends on what time of year you order...

Delivery time will depend on what stage in the manufacturing cycle the factory is in. Usual time is 6-8 weeks after the factory gets your order.

You need to find a good dealership that will order for you. Be aware that if the Magnum you want is only available in limited numbers to each dealer, the dealer will not take your order at the employee discount rate.

A good example is the 300C Chrysler. We were only allocated 4 Hemi cars the whole year. No way we would sell them for zero profit when regular customers were knocking down the doors to get one. We are a small town dealership competing with the big boys and every penny counts ;)

I don't know if it's the Hemi or the Mercedes 5 speed auto that is limiting the production. I can tell you from driving the 300Cs the the marriage is a wonderfull one. What a car it is...

Thanks for the info. Dane. I wanted to do a bit of research before I went to the dealer. The guy I use is a low overhead (read "no frills") dealership that moves a lot of vehicles. I'll have to sit down with them and have a chat. I know they roll the red carpet out for my father-in-law (the retired Chrysler employee) when he shows up.
