Attention: TDR Forum Junkies When I take delivery of my ordered CTD QuadCab I plan on purchasing several Dodge (Mopar) Accessories. A couple of the major items will be included with the truck as part of the purchase price and on the loan. For the less expensive items, I will just purchase them directly from the Parts Manager as a separate transaction and install them (correctly) myself!
Here is my question : Is the Dodge (Mopar) accessory parts warranty different when the Dealer installs the accessory vs. an owner installed Mopar Accessory??? My previous experience with Honda, for my wife's Accord, was that if the Honda accessory was installed by the dealer prior to vehicle delivery, then the accessory was warrantied under the vehicle's 3 year / 36,000 mile B-to-B warranty! If installed by the owner, the accessory warranty was only good for 1 year / 12,000 miles!
If I knew for certain that the Dodge Accessory warranty is the same no matter who does the install, I'd install everything myself as I trust my quality of work over others, 9 times out of 10. (i. e. That Honda dealer's tech. damaged 7 pieces of interior trim and chipped the door sill paint when he (it) installed the Honda Alarm system! What a nice find,
when I did my new vehicle acceptance inspection with the salesman!)
