Purchased 04 Ram 2500 TD, w/Sirius & premium 6 disc head unit PDY, Infinity sound, displays artist and title on FM band , will not display same on SIRIUS mode. My dealer does not knopw answer, Sirius tech support says my unit sould display data.
On the 04 PT Cruisers a cable was missing between the Sirius modulator and the radio. Have your dealer call STAR, and have them contact the radio guys.
Matt,
You are right. I went through this with my RB4. Amazingly, the unit will display the title and artist on an FM station that has the capability to do so, but not with SIRIUS radio. Go figure!
Jack
There was a thread a while back that had a solution to displaying the Sirius song title and artist data--a search should turn it up. It linked to the diagram on this page. If you add the multiplex splitter box and the "Optional Artist/Song title display cable for RB1" (part numbers shown on the diagram) it should work. I haven't gotten around to ordering them yet (and I'm worried about what the multiplexer may cost), but I hope to soon.
read your post w/possible solution for data display of artist/title on Sirius MOPAR unit. that may shed some light on the subject. My dealer pulled my head unit out and says all components are in place. There is no multiplex splitter. The STAR people are split on the subject, 1/2 say it should display data and the other 1/2 say it cannot. I am going to show the schmematic to my electronics expert, will report back on findings, appreciate the input.
The ARTIST/TITLE information is presended to the radio on pin 8 of the 10 pin connector. The MOPAR SIRIUS tuner puts the ARTIST/TITLE data out on pin 10 of the 12 pin connector. If these pins are connected the question would be does the radio really support this fuction or do you have a bad radio that is not processing the data.
I know nothing about the topic, however I have the Laramie with Infinity 6 disc changer. Want to add Sirius, Can I keep my same deck? Manual does not say.
You truck most likley has an RBQ model radio in it and that is one of the models list in the MOPAR SIRIUS guide, here is site that you can download the document from:
If you go with the factory option components it cost quite a few dollars. I have the same truck as yours, the receiver and install kit cost me $225 total. Dealer install should be around $225 also unless you do it yourself.
I would rec'd getting an aftermarket in hindsight. A plug in play modual could be used in different apps, car/home/boombox/portable. If you want a portable later you'll have to pay more monthly fees because it's another receiver.
You need two MOPAR kits the first is part number 82206488AA and lists for $175, this kit is the tuner and the external antenna you mount on cab roof. The second kit is number 82208116 and lists for $124, this kit had the template for drilling the roof and mounting braraket as well as an antenna extention cable that runs from the back of the cab roof across and then down the A Pillar to the tuner that mounts up under the dash. Because I had the RB1 nav system I lso wanted the CD changer in additon to the SIRIUS and didnot want to drill the roof I did the installation different, see my picture in reader's rig gallery.
