I was just at the local Ford dealer looking to get my 16y-o kid a new Mustang GT for Christmas and the salesman saw my Dodge. He stated that Ford next year was putting the Cummins in the F series Ford trucks. Any truth to that? Anyone???? If so, that is great news as the Chevy is UGLY and the Dodge truck it self is a dog without the Cummins. I really like the Ford lines. We have a few Fords as ranch trucks. The newest is an early 2003 :--) Crew Cab Duelly with the last of the "better" Powerstrokes, before they went to the 6. 0.

Any real reliable news on this would be great. I cant think of what Dodge would be replacing the Cummins with. The salesman was talking an Isuzu, but I corrected him that the Duramax was an Isuzu. I think that set him back a bit and he dropped the subject. With that in mind, I think that he was talking crap and really didnt know what he was talking about. He just wanted me to sign a check tonight for the Mustang... Comments? :)

Ford puts CUMMINS B series engines in the heavy duties (F650 AND F750). They have for some time (along with the dreaded Powerstoke and a Cat). From what I remember for here (or somewhere) the B series they use has a rear accessory drive (not a front one like ours).

No Cummins in a F250-F550.

I think salesman from all makes go to the same bs school. Havn't found to many salsemen that know much about the vehicles they are selling. I think they're moto is If you can't dazzle them with brillence then baffle them with bs.

edit: Hey PJ was that Lithia in Grants Pass? :-laf

That's a total load of salesman cr*p. Toyota is currently testing diesel engines though for a new big truck they'll supposedly have out in the next few years. Ford, GM, and DC all better get their act together before that happens. I have some buddies running that 6. 0 Ford diesel and they hate it. I like the Ford truck bodies and the cabs, but you couldn't give me that complicated 6. 0 engine. I think that salesman must have been sleepwalking :-laf .

Ford salesmen have been trying to pull that since '93, at the very least, 'cause they told me the same thing when I bought my Dodge back then. Say, did he also tell you that Ford just bought Cummins, while he was at it? :-laf They usually do. Incredible...

I was talking to the dealership today about this very item. They told me that the mercedes diesel would be an option in the future but no plans to scrap the cummins.

If it was spoken at a ford dealer it would have to be total BS. Those who praise ford trucks I would guess don't drive one every day. I do drive a ford POSD (01) company truck as a work truck. It clunks, rattles, squeeks, stutters at idle will hardley even move until it has warmed up. To compare this truck to a Dodge (even my old 1994) is a joke.

Brand loyalty is great, but Please. The only thing worse than the ford I used to own is how poorly the company treated me as a customer.

I suppose anything is possible, but I would buy a wheelbarrow and a goat before I would buy a ford with any engine.

O. K. off my soap box now.

The Ford dealer was Mocks in Grants Pass. I bought my last two Cummins at Lithia. My latest one is a great truck, unlike the 04 I dumpped a few months back. They did give me $30k trade in for it as I only paid $32600 10 months and 13k miles earlier. I thought that was fair. They sold me the new one @ 2% under invoice. That was a great deal. I love the truck. It would be nice to have the looks and comfort of a Ford F350 4x4 with my Cummins under the hood. I had a Powerstroke and couldnt keep trannys in it! Actually, I do in fact like the ride of my 3500 better than the 2500 I had before. I also like the adjustable pedals in my Dodge. I just wish it had memory, like the seat in my wifes Lincoln LS1. Oh well, its just a truck! Geeeezzzz, i hate it when someone says its "just a truck!".

Have a great holiday guys. I sorta knew the Ford guy was talking smack. I just had to make sure. I just wish Dodge would make a Full size SUV with the Cummins in it. Ma :D Oo. Oo. ybe some day!

Tell him you'll put a $1000 deposit on one right now but if it turns out not to be true you want double your money back ... . and get it in writing.

a salesman at a dodge dealer told me on a test drive a few months back that you could in fact order an F350 with a Cummins but that the Ford dealers don't like to tell you that. I will admit he was a young pup and might have been miss informed.

"ignorance is bliss". if you're ignorant enough to only listen to a vehicle salesman, you probably get what you deserve. i also see truck ads all the time like "2001 ford f250 powerstroke cummings diesel" ... ... ... . huh???

i went to look at a powerstroke (yeah, couldn't find a d/c's though that's what i only really wanted)... . and i found my truck. as i was buying the thing, i found out that the person standing next to me use to own that powerstroke he just traded in. i got the whole lecture on "ford owns cummins", i told him no, but it was no use.

stupid people

No "might have been" about it.

Let me clear this up once and for all.

Ford does not own Cummins. I am sure of that. I bought Cummins yesterday and I control 100% of the stock. I will never put a cummins in a F250-F550. Ford can keep the mighty International that plagues them with problems. If you are at a Ford Dealership and an unimformed employee tells you that Ford owns Cummins. Tell him you have a friend who owns Cummins and they are never going into a Ford.....

Thank you finally,

Greg

Perfect! After all, it's no less truthful than the Ford salesman BS!

Dave

Thanks Greg!

Thanks Greg, glad to hear you recently purchased Cummins. That explains why the stock went up recently. Please let me know if you plan on buying any other companies. I'll give you a list of my other stocks if that will help... ;-)

... and when I was 16, I ocassionally got to use the folks' Pontiac station wagon. But I did own my Schwinn Varsity 10 speed outright...

Buy the kid a $1000, 35 year old full size 4 door sled, and spend the rest of the $ on your truck.

I was thinking the same thing, lot of car for a 16 year old.

We used to call them 'kid killers' back when they finally put a 4bbl on the mid 80's Stangs. Went really fast but the brakes were awful, hence getting a kid in trouble. At least they have 4 wheel disc brakes in them now, don't they?
