Just heard on the news tonight 98 - 02 2500 and 3500 diesel with manual transmissions are being recalled by Chrysler. Did not say what for. Anyone know?

Cary:cool:

There is a recall out (on 2001<) that has to do with the main pos/neg PDC cables not being torqued properly, not sure if that's what it is.

I saw on Daimler Chrysler TV on our in house propaganda programming that the 2500 and 3500 needed reprogramming for cruise control. Prowler needed suspension parts replacement. Durango something else. Millions of vehicles affected.

 My truck doesn't even have cruise control, Is there anything else it deals with I should be worried about? My dealer really doesn't like me I know more about my truck than they do. :D :D

oil pressure reflash???

PLease enlighten me as to what this oil press reflash was all about!! I am ever curious! Thanks. .

basically it involves changing the PCM software to ignor the oil pressure sender. It the sender indicates too high or too an oil pressure the PCM puts 40 PSI on the gauge, I am a victim of this one. They do this to save warranty replacement of the sender. There have been many threads of people who had it done complaining. I wonder what the IQ is of the current DC "engineers" who write such patches. After the reflash I had 40 PSI, hot, cold, idle, redline. I went back and beefed and they got the ok from Star to troubleshoot the system. Result: new sender but because of the reflash, if I ever lose oil pressure I will see 40 PSI on the dash. Thanks DC, what a bunch of dumba$$es sometimes.

you can do that but too but I sure liked the red light and warning chime that oil pressure was lost that it used to do, now gone forever.

My truck has been reflashed once already for eratic fuel mileage. What ever they did worked.

I hope this one gives it more power since its a 6speed and not an automatic.

I doubt it though.

Recent recall

I am very suspicious of recalls such as this. I replaced my oil pressure transducer thousands of miles ago. I opened the bad unit up to find a flex circuit with passive components that probably failed because of poor design. They probably could not take the heat or there was a quality problem with the manufacturing. I did not bother to trouble shoot it any further. Having said that, put me on record that I will not be going in for any type of recall pertaining to software and PCM's. I got trapped in this once before and lost power. After enough complaining they finally made an adjustment. Edge Products has taken care of my needs to this point in the scheme of things. I will not be going to any dealer for anything. There are other options after warranty and I am my own warranty station with talent on loan from God.

Hows that for a humble attitude? Perhaps DC is looking for those trucks that have been enhanced after the warranty runs out... ... ... Bite Me!

What a rant and while I think about it, I had a local Cummins center tell me there was not a transfer/lift pump problem. There has got to be a recall on this one. My sons 98 12V (not properly valved) now has a new pump with 103,000 miles. My 98 24V is still on the original but I am install gauges and checking the fuel heater wiring with 104,000 miles.
