i have a friend that wants to convert his 6cyl. to an 8. he has the engine and trans from an rt dakota and want to know what it would take to convert his truck over. thanks richard

Engine control unit (computer), transmission control unit (another computer) and the complete wiring harness from the donor truck, motor mounts, possibly a transmission cross member (make sure they don;t use the same transmission because if it is then all he has to do is swap engines). possibly a driveshaft (or shafts if it;s 4wd).

make sure this can be done and still have the vehicle pass emissions laws, here in CA emissions testing is done with the VIN and anything that does not jive will throw everything into a bureaucratic lockup.



After you get that sorted out, the mechanicals will probably be a piece of cake

the truck is 2wd short bed reg cab. he already has the engine and trans from a dakota rt that was a short bed reg cab. he just wants to know if the engine and trans will fit without any mod to the engine room. thanks
