Which company makes the most Diesel Engines?

Battle of the Big 3 !! {funny}

the majority of dodge diesel owners i have met and spoke with bought the dodge for the cummins ...

if dodge looses the cummins i believe they will loose the majority of return buyers ...

i just finished visiting www.highlifter.com and a recurrent idea that i have seen posted there and on other non truck sites is " dodge has the best motor, chevy has the best transmission and ford makes the best truck "

anyone remember what dodge's market share and reputation was like prior to using the cummins?

i have purchased 3 dodge diesel trucks soley for the motor and would follow cummins to whomever decides to use the big 6 cylinder ... even a toyota

I was wondering, with all these rumers fliyng around, is it possible DC might be putting a mercedes diesel in the half tons?

By the way, we have a couple of sprinter vans at work. The drivers use lots of colorful metaphores to describe them.

It's true that DCX has to do the actual EPA, CARB, etc. certifications for the vehicle, but i'll bet the farm that Cummins is actually certifying the varoius arrangments of the engine for their other uses and giving DCX what they need to get their job done.

I just visited Freightliner.com, WesternStar.com, and Sterling.com, and all three trucks only offer DCX engines (MBE or the series 60) and nothing else. The strange thing was that for info about MBE engines, you are directed to DetroitDiesel.com . The Ram is the misfit at this point!

I think the handwriting is on the wall!

I'm sorry, but you're wrong. Freightliner, Western Star and Sterling all offer Cat C7 through C15 engines (depending on model of truck). Also, Cummins ISB and ISC are optional on some models.

The websites are designed to push the proprietary equipment. It's a simple and effective business practice to use vertical integration of your products. Since Freightliner owns Detroit Diesel, the Series 60 is exclusive to FTL products.

For the record, Freightliner trucks, Sterling trucks, Western Star trucks, Thomas Built Buses are all owned under Freightliner LLC whose parent company is Daimler-Chrysler.

If and when I get a new [used] truck I'll just find out where the Cummins eng. went , since ford bought Cummins that means a ford PU , but yes MBZ makes good stuff , so that means there will be a choise .

Hey dense-boy... ever heard of sarcasm? Note the laughing smiley...

Cummins is not going anywhere. Why do people believe this crap, then decide to post it as if it were fact (AGAIN, and AGAIN, and AGAIN) on here? "Because the dealer's sister's father's cousin's nephew works at the imaginary German 5. 9 plant, and claims that they know all... " doesn't cut it for speculation.
This subject has been hashed over for like 7 years now. Cummins has a contract with DC, and they both know we like it that way. Quit worrying, or even speculating about something that won't happen people!

Dense Boy??? Maybe you should try checking your manners instead of getting your panties in a twist. Is that any way to treat a new member??

Thats probably one of the most sensible things I have read in a while.

Preach on!!

Yeah, people post this stuff like it is fact over and over and over again.

It gets real old, real quick.

No offense intended - ust additional sarcastic banter, with reference to not being able to infer such obvious things in the first place.
