Well guy's I can tell you the grille shell and the lower driver side grile insert is still stocked by Dodge. So is the marker light.

After driving mine for the rest of the week my grille shell decided to crack at the point of impact. So another part added to the list.

I got some steel ordered for my critter getter. So BW your critter getter is safe now. You can come this direction without fear of it disappearing. :D

This is what I came up with last winter. I don't know if these pictures will work. I am computer illiterate.

I have a friend who bought a front bumper from Buckstop, and is pleased with it. Yeah, he wacked a deer as well.

I hope it's tough enough... .

I had a bus driver collide with a deer. It bent the front bumper (the front bumper!!!)back and into the body and bend the grill inward.

Jezz o man. I had to hook up a log chain to the bumper and to another bus and back the bus up to pull the bumper back out.

Deer Avoidance System

try a google search for "electronic deer whistles" open up the Hornet Deer Whistle, after hitting a beautiful Buck 12 years ago I would not travel through Deer Country without one. Keeps my mind at ease!!!

I used to believe in the whistles. Now Iamb not so sure. I've hit deer with and without them. I think in some situations it can scare the deer and the jump into the road. They are QUICK!!

My grill guard is made stout enough, using 3/8 and 1/2 inch plate with 1/4 square tubing, but it will only take some of the load of a direct hit. It may save some of the components but, from the deer I have hit I know it won't take it all. I wiped out my wife's Dakota a few years ago to the tune of 8 thousand. A grill guard wouldn't have done much. I don't have any experience with deer whistles, but if they worked I would think that they might have become standard equipment.

they dont work. The theory behind them is that they make a sound that makes the deer stop and look around to see what it is. Even if it did work that means that deer just stopped and put its ears up in the road in front of you.

the best alert for deer is a straight pipe :) Still I see about a dozen every night this week in two separate herds. They are always in about the same place though so I am already watching for them.

:-laf :-laf

Didn't work for me. I have had a straight pipe for 1. 5 years now. LOL This one heard me coming. She was at full speed when I tenderized her.

Wow Philip, glad to hear it was minimal damage, as i know them suckas can do alot of damage. Deer are like women, when you're lookin for em there not there. When yer not lookin ya can't turn your head without bangin your nose on one! Take good care of that truck bro :)

I thought I would throw an update out here.

I went to order the new grille shell I need. It is not in stock anymore. But Dodge is doing a production run at the end of this month. They are producing 100 new grille shells. There are 40 back orders for them on the Dodge computer. If anyone is wanting a new grille shell. Now might be the time to order. This might be the last production run for them.

grille

Phillip

where can I sign up for one of those. I need to get one before I paint my truck. If it's the last run I want one!!

I am not sure if it is the last run. But I wouldn't hold my breath on there being another one. These trucks are over 10 years old now. Dodge doesn't have to support them any more. They just got enough parts orders piled up to justify another run of them. Just go down to your favorite dealer and order the grille shell. They will add it to the orders all ready on the computer. When the production run goes threw The will call and let you know the part is in. I'll post the part number later on tonight.

If someone needs a front bumper to have straightened and rechromed. I have one. It has the center cover and right side cover still on it. The left side stayed with the deer. :(

I will be at TIM and Schieds this year if you don't want to ship it. Or we might get be able to setup a relay with some member going your way.

I'll also be picking up the rest of my steel for my critter getter from the fab shop on Sat. I hope it doesn't rain this weekend.

Here is some pic's of some of my steel I have picked up for my critter getter. I wish the rain would stop on the weekends. :{

Wow Philip. That looks like some guard  I don't like the looks of guards and roll bars on TWD trucks like mine but this thing looks like the Bomb dude! If the pics are any indication to the finished project you'll be sporting the nicest one this side of the Big Miss. Will look REAL good on your 350 4X4.

There is a local guy who has a '92/'93 just like mine, and installed tripple roll bars.

Scott that bumper is not as tall as the stock Dodge bumper is. Those uprights are not in the finished mode right now. I left the tops raw. I haven't settled on the finished angles I want.

I hate pipe front bumers. :(
