Dodge Truck Cap question

Does anyone know if a cap off of a 97 dodge 1500 8ft bed will fit a 2005, 2500 8ft bed? Will it mate up correctly at the cab etc Thanks Bob.

Don't know on that. Usually the beds will be the same length but cab styles differ. . I have seen a lot of comical mis-fit caps on beds. . best thing to do would be to test fit it and see how it matches up. .

if it fits the bed good but not square with the cab then thats OK. . Remember the old sheet metal caps of old ? . . not very form fitting to truck cabs. If it fits good, I'd do it.

I think that the newer trucks have more taper in the bed sides. The od of the bed rails is narrower at the back of the truck. I am buying a shell that was built for chevy with less taper in the back. It hangs over the bed rail just at the corner a tiny bit. For the money I am saving it does not bother me. But it does not look as clean as a properly fitting shell, but the dollars will go into Carli and Dynatrac front end parts.

My neighbour put the canopy from his 99 Dodge on his 08 Dodge. It fits, but doesn't quite fit or look right. Depends on how picky or rich you are. :-laf Shadrach
