3500 single rear wheel trucks gone?

I saw a 3500 single rear wheel HO Cummins truck at the local Dodge dealer the other day. Less that $40K! But when I go out to the Dodge web site, They don't have the single rear wheel option listed any where that I can find. Anyone in TDR land know the secret. PLEASE don't tell my wife that I am looking at a new truck! Told her when I got this one that it was the last truck I would ever buy! Ken Irwin

On the dodge site, proceed like you are specing a dually, then when you get to the options page there is an option for something like "single rear wheel" with a negative option cost. The 3500 SRW is the same as the 2500 with overload springs and cab clearance lights. Same as ordering the camper prep group on the second gen, but costs more now. You do get to tell your buddies that you have a "3500" though.

The trick is that short box quad cab 3500's are only SRW, so there's no option code. But long box 3500's are dually by default, and you need an option code (AR9 I think) to get a SRW long box.

My guess is you were looking at a short box.

I just got an email back from Dodge about the 3500 single rear wheel truck and customer service says that the 3500 single rear wheel is not available. See below

Dear Kenneth:

Thank you for your email regarding the 2003 Dodge Ram 3500 Heavy Duty Pickup.

At this time, the 2003 Dodge Ram 3500 Heavy Duty Pickup Trucks is only available with a dual-rear axle.

Should a single-rear wheel axle become available for this vehicle, your dealer will be notified.

In the meantime, we suggest consulting your local Dodge dealer to obtain additional vehicle information, pricing, as well as schedule a test drive.

Anybody know if this is a permanent change? I went back to the dealer that has the 3500 I first looked at and it has everything that I would require to make it my new trailer hauler. Lord give me strength!! The 97 is paid for!!!! Ken Irwin

It appears that the 3500 SWB is only available with SRW (makes sense) and only with the CTD. I don't see anywhere to order a LWB SRW 3500 either.

Did the option ever really exist? Has anyone actually seen one or bought one?

I speced one out with the salesman in October. I didn't get it because I was concerned with the tounge weight of my fiver. I think it was an option of the drw quad.

Rothrock Dodge in Allentown PA has a silver 3500 QC ST 4X4 LWB SRW Cummins in their showroom - sticker is $36K and change - call Scott Morgan 610-439-8485.

I am not affiliated yadda yadda yadda

There are two 3500 LWB SRW HO/6 speed trucks at Starr Motors in Suffolk, VA. They do exist! Drove 'em both, good handling, good power.

Another example of fine German Engineering by Daimler Benz...

From Dodges site, build the truck, then on the options page select the CTD engine, their will NOT be a single rear wheel group option.

THEN - click continue..... You will go to Colors

THEN - click Configure Options again (#4 upper left),

TA DA!

The Single Rear Wheel group option magically appears,

Click it and continue...

Do I hafta explain evrthing to y'all?

Like, A Cowboy rides into town on Friday, stays two nights, and leaves on Friday..... how'd he do that?

... . and yes Virginia, Santa drives a ETH/DEE SRW LWB QC!

I got almost 10000 miles on my picture, and the pictures lead to prices:D

The pictures are used to denote LWB and SWB and the SL/SLT/Laramie, there is no SRW LB picture selection for instance. And the SRW option must be 'tricked' into showing.
