I agree about the tow hooks, and think that I may have figured out why different trucks have different equipment "missing". I've got a 2001. 5, and it has the under hood insulation, lighted drivers vanity, and rear cupholders. I don't have the grap handles.

I was scanning through all the preceeding posts, and noticed one guy with the SLT+ pkg appeared to have "everything". I wonder if maybe everything is missing on the ST trucks, some stuff is missing on SLT's, and most everything is still there on the SLT+,s?

Don't know about the 2001. 5's, but our 2002 SLT+ doesn't have underhood insulation, lighted vanity mirrors or rear cupholders.

Here's what I remember from checking out a new 2002 Dodge SLT at the Cummins store get together.

1. No underhood insulation

2. Cowl rubber seal half size

3. No plastic rear wheel liners

4. No tailgate protector

5. No carpet insulation in cab ( still has rubber insulation)

6. No rear cup holders

7. No self-Dimming rear view mirror

8. No lighted vanity mirrors ( mirrors were half size too)

9. No passenger grab handle

10. No plastic air deflector inserts in front bumper ( I think)

11. Silver radio mast ( No black paint?)

12. No tinted front glass

I may have forgotten a few things but this list is too long as it is. It's a total CROCK that we spend 35K give or take and the truck has less options than most vehicles that cost half as much. I know my wife's 21K Passat put my truck to shame!!!

HEY DC YOU HAD BETTER WAKE UP REAL QUICK

They are still taking away stuff

Just to make up for the 12 extra valves they put in the Cummins that it never needed. You guys just dont get it. You have to sell what people dont really want or need. It is the American way. Who needs a drink holder that jiggles on top the electronics?DC thought we needed it in 1995. How about that fill in the blank hole next to it?They were just planning ahead for Westachs combo gauges in the bombing future. How about fuel senders that dont work?Thats just the Big Oil influence making unwitting joe public keep his tank full. Rear brake adjusters that dont work sell more of the expensive front brake parts. I dont even wanna mention the dowel pin and fifthgear nut. (Knock on wood, hurry)Just joking guys. All things considered,I got what I paid for. The Best looking Baddest *** truck arround.

I think the short run of 2000 trucks were the best. All of the upgrades, none of the deletions and the fewest number of TSB's. I think I hit the sweet spot in the DC truck production :D IMHO

Hey, I really like our 2002 - mechanically, it's far superior to our V-10 equipped 1996 3500, but it really gripes me to see the stuff that's missing on our 2002 SLT+ that was on our 1996 SLT. If I'd never had the stuff, I probably wouldn't miss it!

This is how it's been forever. I bought an early '94 ST gasser when I was working at a dealership. When the '95 STs came in there was a lot of deletions them also. Tape stripes gone, body side mouldings gone, among other small stuff; the base price was also increased like $1500. 00. Cripe, they did the same stuff on Neons.

I don't doubt there are deletions. We are nearing the end of this body style, the manufacturers (of most anything) are cheap and want profits. I myself wouldn't mind a raise.

On comparing trucks, make sure that you compare apples to apples. ST, SLT and SLT+ are all different, not too mention option packages affect equipment.

I got what I paid for. Life is too short to loose sleep over cupholders in my opinion.

deletions

i've never had a dodge ctd before, so i didn't miss the things which were deleted, til i read this thread. dang, i'm ticked. i'm going out this very afternoon and trade for a duramax!!!

NOT!!!!!!

since i never had a newer ram before this one, i'm quite happy with mine. about the only thing i'd like to have is the lighted mirror for the OWMBO. the fit and finish are great. the rear disc brakes stop me very well. the leather heated seats continue to amaze me, how comfortable they are. the OWMBO has been looking at new SUV's recently. my ram seats are easily more comfortable than Lexus, Acura, and Infinity!! :D

btw, i've never had a vehicle in the past, that had a hood liner, that didn't fall out sometime, if i drove it as long as i plan to drive this one. besides, i can hear the mighty cummins better... . :)

(sorry this got long  )

My 01 came with everything. The one thing I did add was the bedside mouldings on the front. We just purchased a 2002 Buick Le Sabre and I was told by the wife that I couldnt get another new truck until the car was paid for. :( :( Thats in 6 years. Course the Cummins will still be going strong even then. :D :D
