Dodgezilla is ALIVE!!!!!

Well today I was in San Francisco making a delivery for work, using my truck because the company van was out of gas, and I really wanted to take my truck, so any way I was stopped at the intersection 10th and Harrison going to make a right turn on 10th and an ambulance with it's lights and sirens going so I wait to make to turn not sure which way it's going to go, well every body stops except this car going threw the intersection at 35- 40 mph!! Well the ambulance and the car collide and it sends the ambulance in to DodgeZilla and I, it threw my truck into a parked car on my right and back into the car behind me, My truck is TRASHED, coolant every where, Left fonder, front bumper, grill,

Hood, right fender, headlights and fog lights, both front rims rear bumper, and the rear corner of the bed!!! And that's just what I saw standing there… the worst part of the whole I just paid it off last month, well the day wasn't a total lost when I got home my first Issue of TRD showed up!!!

Well, that pretty much sucks! Tough break, I hope every thing works out for you. Be thankful that you didn't get hurt - the truck CAN be replaced, you can't. That won't make you feel better right now but it is the truth.

The thing that sucks is that you were doing the right thing, and there was nothing you could have done to avoid it. I hope the idiot that hit the ambulance got written up for every possible citation the cops could think of. Hitting an ambulance! I mean, come on!! There could have been a woman about to give birth in there, or somebody's grandma. They oughta string that guy up by his thumbs from the traffic signal!

Truly sorry to hear about that Adam. Get your personal insurance company involved, sometimes they are more likely to give more on repairs or a "Totaled Value" then the other guys. Your insurance company will subrigate--"go after the other company" on your behalf, but in the mean time you will either have your truck fixed or have "CIF"=cash in fist. It won't go against you or your rates either.



Hang in there--and its very good the Dodge took the hit and not you.

I don't know what your feelings are about getting the truck fixed or what your insurance co said, but its amazing the amount of money that they will sink into a trashed truck to fix it. Its some crazy amount like 80% of the value of the truck. My personal feelings about driving a fixed truck are that I'd rather have a new one with the same mods. I don't trust many people's work.



I worked an accident over the winter and a guy rolled his 1500 QC R/T sport; took out the driver's side and kinked both sides of the box and needed work to the hood and fenders and I would assume some frame machine time. I talked to the guy since then and they fixed it for a cost of around $18k.



You just never know, Dodgzilla may breathe again!

I just want to say thanks to all of you for your nice words and thoughts! I just stopped by the body shop the truck looks worse today than yesterday, they just stated pulling the truck apart, and they said it doesn't look like any frame damage, But they would need to measure it out to make sure. I don't know about the guy that hit ambulance he was bleeding pretty good from his head and they took him any in another ambulance, I was going to call and see how he was, Dose anyone know who has the right away in this situation doses the ambulance have to come to a stop before going throw a red light? Anyway I'll be OK my neck is really stiff and sore, and my insurance agent called me and said that he'll do what ever it takes to get Dodgezilla back on the road, It's cool when your agent has a truck like ours!!



On a lighter side dose anyone have a link to an aftermarket Bumper Co. I think I'm going to put a BIG Bumper on this thing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I can't say for sure because I don't know the laws in CA, but in MI an emergency vehicle with lights and siren activated still has to slow and be given the right of way at a stop sign or lighted intersection (assuming the light is red). Here again, I don't know what the situation was in your case, but a lot of the time the majority of people will stop and give the right of way to the emergency vehicle and some bone head adjusting the radio or whatever will come floating up in a different lane and smoke the ambulance/cop as its going through the intersection. This happened to a Troop at my post.



This is not to say that there are not cops or hobby-hosers who drive like a bat-outa-he## and think that they are going to save the world by getting there a second faster. No offense to any public servants who drive.



Not to ramble on and on and this maybe alittle off track, but this strikes a nerve with me. Michigan has just adopted a 'left lane law'; largely due to the number of Troopers that were recently killed by drivers on traffic stops. The last Trooper that got killed was a good friend of mine and the lady who hit his patrol car was busy feeding her kids Wendy's fast food and she didn't notice that all four tires had drifted across the rumble strips on the freeway and she hit his cruiser square in the rear. Needless to say he was waiting for traffic to clear and he was between his car and the car that was stopped. He's dearly missed. Not to preach, but move over and give the ambulance/cop the right of way.

DodgeZilla is still alive!!

Well the parts list keeps growing and the damage is at 12,000 and counting They are odering parts as needed except the front bumper I'm still

looking So if anyone can help please do because I need to order all the parts so I can get

my truck back asap!! I'm going threw withdraws I've been beating on a renta car Well not really my neck hurts to bad to jump it well it looks like some time after july 9th I hope.

Sorry to hear about the truck. In 1990, I got hit by an ambulance going through a red light (but he was going the wrong way on a one way street) and the law in DC is That an emergency vehicle has the right away - but only after insuring that the intesection is clear before proceeding. The court ruled that the ambulance driver was at fault, but being a city employee, my insurance company could not sue him since he was "the government" to be reimbursed. All in all, my rates didn't change. Things have a way of working out.
