Does $450 for a 15K service sound right?

I think the first change should be rather early. like 15K. Just to get that "new diff metal shavings" out. after that. 30K should be sufficient. I just change all mine out once a year (about 20K).

If you have an inside place to work that would help. We don't let my BIL near any tools power or hand. He is just better off finding a good price and having it done. You had the good cents to buy the cummins so your steps ahead of my BIL! He tends to break more things then he fixes! Get the service manual and a torque wrench and your good to go. Then you can spend what you saved on something you want.

Pre TDR days i went to the dealer for a stock fuel filter(stupid me:eek::eek::eek:) for my 2001(Airdog now),Napa and local parts store had non in stock. Came out of the dealer walking a bit funny----$67. 00 with tax just for the filter#@$%!#@$%!#@$%!. I found out that i could get it for under 15 bucks at Genos/Cummins,THANKS to to the TDR.

Have it done or do it yourself...

If your prefer to have the work done and the dealer does a good job; it was a good deal and go for it.

I do my own recurring maintenance, mods and most troubleshooting but defer to my trusted 5-Star for anything too hard or too complicated. My 5-Star is fair does quality work.

Nothing wrong with whatever you choose.

Looked back at the bill and didn't see any gasket charges on the axle work. Just listings for lubricant (part no. 5102232-AA) and cleaner (part no. 4897151-AB) under the parts column.

Big thanks, everyone. I'm a first-time CTD owner, learning as I go. I went the full convenience route on this particular service. But I'm thinking I can and should handle the easier stuff like fuel and air filters myself, if nothing else (would've saved about $100 in this case).

Thanks again -- TDR is a great resource ...
