Treven, '94 thru present trucks all have the same vacuum pump setup but only '94-'96 use it for brake boost. The others use vacuum for just cruise control (12 valves) and climate controls (all). I was told when I was having my goose neck flatbed custom built that the stock vacuum pump wasn't enough to power trailer brakes. I believe it, my stock vacuum system runs out of juice when using just the truck brakes a few times while the engine is idling. The trailer builder said he had installed belt driven vacuum pumps on CTDs to power his trailer brakes. I personally know of one Dodge with an add on vacuum pump but the truck is also a stripped down model with no A/C. I think you would be hard pressed to find room for a belt driven pump under the hood without removing the A/C. With a little research you may be able to come up with an electric driven vacuum pump with enough capacity, I'm not sure if they are legal for brakes though. A better choice may be to install an electric air compressor for air brakes instead. I think I know what you are after, electric trailer brakes leave much to be desired but are greatly improved by addition of an exhaust brake. If you are planning on just using the vacuum for the truck brakes you'll do fine with the vacuum pump on any CTD.
