Does a Black spray in get hot to the touch?

Searched past threads to no avail.

Does a black spray in get too hot to the touch in a hot summer sun? Like when you put your forearms on the rails, or if my boy goes barefoot in the bed?

I have a white truck with the mist grey interior. I'm looking at getting either Line-x or Rhino done in either black or grey?

The black will look good with the exterior. The grey will go with the interior. I've read that both fade and the owner would go with the other color next time?

I'm leaning toward black, but am worried it'll be too hot in our blistering Utah summers! #ad


Any other pros/cons with black and grey colors?

Good to see another Rammer in Utah!
I did the black liner to. black is going to get hot but all liners since it is metal under there will get hot to some degree. . White would be the coolest but I don't know if they make that color.
The black liner will look good in that truck.
I have posted in the chapter areas for looking for a utah chapter and some people have responded favorably. If you know anybody else around here that would like to get one going, then lets get together. #ad

The black sprayed-in liner does get hot in the summer sun. I don't think that it's as hot as the bare metal would get though. We have some real hot summers down here too. I have the sprayed in liner over the rails on my truck and I'm glad it's there. Looks good and no scratches on the top bed rail. The dealer here said they don't have white because of the discoloration problem. You can see pics on my site in my signature.

Seriously, it does get warm, but I've really been suprised that it doesn't get scalding hot. I've actually been able to put my hand on it here in the summer. And there are few places hotter then Phx in the summer.

I'd stay with black just to avoid the fade. Then again, what is grey going to fade to?

The material is a polymer and by nature doesn't have very good thermal conductivity. Yes, it will get hot, but it won't be anything like black painted steel. I've only had mine since October so I really can't answer for those 105* days we get in August.

Eric, I'd definently be interested in a Utah chapter. Altho, I use my truck for a daily driver and to tow. I only go off road for deer hunting/fishing. Don't really like to beat my baby too much! If ya'll want to do some off-roading, I'd go along for the easy trail stuff and camping/drinking...

In any case, I'd really be interested to see some of your trucks and the mods done.

I know July 4th weekend (the following weekend actually) we'll be heading toward Bear lake for camping?

BTW, I went with a black Line-X over the rails $450, I get it wed 5/2/01 hopefully!
