Does any one know about a front end modifacation for a 2wd dually?

Hi I am a new TDR member and am about to make my fist CTD purchase. It is a '93 2WD dually. It needs a lot of work but it is a great project truck. One of the things that most of the first generation Dodges seem to need is a prescription for a sagging front end. This truck is no exception. I have been having a hard time finding anyone with parts to pick it back up and or beef it up so I can put a heavier bumper on and ride up a little higher. Do any of you know how can accomplish this at a reasonable price?



By the way, You guys are awesome. I am very impressed with high level of knowledge almost everyone seems to posses about these incredible trucks.



Looking forward to a long relationship with the T D R membership and alot of fun with the truck.

I'm no source for this, but I think Skyjacker makes a leveling kit for these beasts. There are a few places that offer leveling kits, and I'm sure other people will chime in here any day now.

You should post your sig for us, so we can aid you a little easier in BOMBing. It's under the "User Control Panel" button at the top. Things to include are transmission (Getrag or NV), gear ratio, any other upgrades you've already made.

ABout that sagging front end ... MOOG part number 7226S. These are the 1 ton SUPER heavy duty springs. I just installed a set of these on my truck and it picked the front end up by about 3 ". My truck is now sitting pretty much perfectly level (or maybe a tiny bit nose high even). Took a few hours to put on with some help form a few people but it was one of the best things I have done to the old beast. Lots of clearance and the front end does not bottom out anymore when I hit a bump while turning a corner (and I'm not talking about the curb).



If you do the install, just be sure to get new spring isolators from the dealer beforehand. Mine were completely shot. Either do, or have done, a thorough front end inspection before you tear it apart. This is the ideal time to have it all done at once if it needs it.

Thanks for the info! I will look into those springs. Once I get the truck to my shop, I will tear the front end down and check everything out. How much did you pay for them?

Never been around the dually trucks. I guess I don't know anyone who uses them.



My question is: do the D250 and D350 truck models share the same front end suspension components?



I take that back,I do know an older gentleman who had a 350 2nd gen and was unhappy with it. Seems it wasn't enough truck to carry his 5th wheel camper I thought they make 5th wheels for the pick-ups with ratings of 25K lbs???? How much more would you need?

Carl's suggestion is a good one. I myself installed Skyjacker springs for my sag, but I'm 4X$, and was looking for a little lift as well. I'll also second performing any R&R of front components while you're doing the springs. Everything is apart anyway, and if you do the work yourself, parts are not that expensive (I'm talking bearings, seals, kingpins, ball joints for 2wd, etc. )

Thanks for all the info. In my neck of the woods a lot of people use 1-ton dualies. In fact most of the guys I know run them overloaded quite a bit. Some have switched to F-450's and 550's to keep DOT off their butt. I was at the dodge dealer the other day looking at the'04's and the sales manager at the dealer said dodge was coming out with a 4500 and 5500 in a year or two. That would be great. Anyway, thanks again for all the info.

I paid $149 for the pair of MOOG 7226S. There were some others that were supposed equivalents but I choose to, and would suggest the same, use the name brand versus no-name parts.
