Does anybody have an allied muffler?

I do,and its perfect for me. I have the longest model,open chamber,not to loud but still has a throaty growl under acceleration. I had one on a previous truck and it was great for that truck as well.

Wade,a bit of a drone at first,i dont know if i just dont notice it anymore,or if its gone away. I am pretty sensitive to noise,so i think its probably the later. A bit louder at idle,but nothing too offensive/annoying.

I had an allied on my old gas truck and it sounded great. It was a 4" straight through. About 12-15 round and about 24" long.



It was quiet at idle. Sounded great when you were on it.



Do you know the part # of the one you are looking at?

I dont know the part number. A shop down the street has the Allied muffler and Magnaflow. The shop owner thought that the allied sounded better.

I bought a 4" straight through Mack muffler for mine, but have not installed it. It's about 20" long. $75. My cousin put the same muffler on his 03 dually and his says it sounds great and gives better throttle reponse. I have the part number if anyone wants it.

The Mack part number is 5839-04849T and the cost was $75. 81.

I had it installed on Friday along with a stainless 5" tip. It is 24" long, 4" in and out, and has an offset like the stock muffler. It is a strait through design with louvers around the center tube and no packing. Initial impressions are pretty good. Idle only slightly louder than stock. Any time you rev it, take off, or get into the pedal at all the exhaust is noticeably but not excessively loud. I has a nice deep sound and does not appear to be raspy or tinny sounding. It sounds a lot more like a real diesel now.

I didn't get to drive the truck this week end. I could not tell if there was a difference or not as the truck was not warmed up enough for me to get into it on Friday(the muffler shop, my work , and my house are within about a mile and a half of each other). I do know it sounds a lot better.

The part number is 8991. This was carried by my local muffler shop. I have not had much luck trying to find info about it on the internet so maybe you could call your local shop and they might know about it.

Thanks for the part no. I'll check my muffler shop tomorrow. Is this a "bolt in" per say? I know somebody said it is offset, like the factory exhaust, but what is involved in the installation?

I don't know if the offset is exactly like the stock muffler but I am sure it is a lot easier to align then an inline muffler like the Donaldson. You would also need a 3. 5 to 4 inch adapter and some band clamps. I just had a shop put mine in so I would not have to worry about leaks or dealing with the mounts.
