I was wondering if anyone has a remote starter and a aftermarket high idler working well together on a second gen ctd? If so what are the names and numbers of these units? This is what I see as the optimum setup the remote starter would wait for the wts light to go out and then start the truck. After 30 seconds or so the high idler would receive an input from the remote start unit accelerating the engine to 1200 rpm's or so.

Is there a high idler that will work like this?

I think the viper remote start will send the signal.

That is the only one I know of that will work.

Good choice on the Viper, it is a quality unit. I am looking at replacing my Code Alarm with the Viper.

Im clueless. How does the remotes work when the truck is cold and the wait to start light is on for a while??? I always thought with the remotes, you push the button and the vehicle starts right away.

The viper ties into the wait to start light circuit. I have installed others, like Code Alarm, that if you set them to "diesel mode" they will wait 30 seconds before starting the truck.

Also with this setup there is a input from the remote starter to the high idle. After the truck is started and running you would press another button on the remote to bring the idle to 1200 rpm. I talked to the remote starter installer today and he said this would work no problem. I'll let you know how it goes should have it done and operating in two weeks or so.
