I must get the you are # 1 finger couple times a year. All they need to do is what yield means. It does not mean cut me off and make me swerve in to the other lane. I usually don't give in to those who don't yield. Its pretty simple wait and then go when its clear.

Jeff try driving in Calif some time. Not only will they not yield, but if a person has is turn signal on there is only a 50% chance they will turn. If they are going to turn there is a 95% chance they won't signal.

There is a fine line between knowing when to yield and bieng a COMPLETE AND TOTAL IDIOT(Ok i feel better now) Here in Tulsa there is quite a few highway on ramps that have no merge lane, at the end of the ramp your ON the highway. Well alot of people here tend to STOP at the bottom of these things. That is a horrible idea since 99% of the other people have it on the wood trying to get enough speed to get on the highway. I drive a truck full of batteries around and at 35K with only four disc brakes its hard to stop for these morons. And after stopping its nearly impossible to get on a busy highway with a truck that takes about a mile or more to get to highway speed.

On a different note i think whenever people get there license they should have to ride in a heavy truck and see how fast these things stop. Maybe then they will have more respect #ad

The last I heard was Yield died a couple of years ago along with his sister Courtesy in a bad traffic accident caused by someone not giving the right-of-way.

Bad340fish - that's because in Oklahoma a lot of people can't tell the difference between YIELD and STOP. I grew up there and lived there for 9 years - I can't tell you the number of times I came around an on ramp to find someone completely stopped at the end of the ramp! One time I had to go up on the curb around them because there wasn't enough time to stop.

Here in Seattle there are a lot of yield signs, and most people just ignore them. One that I deal with on a daily basis is at the Port of Tacoma exit near the Flying J in Fife. I drive a big rig to a warehouse on the other side of the freeway. After passing over the freeway, the offramp for the northbound I-5 people blends into the road. They're supposed to yield for me, but most people don't even look, they just pull right in front of me. Most of the time, I keep coming and force them to squeeze along the shoulder and wait for me to go past.
Also, with the way many freeway transition roads are designed here, it's amazing that there aren't more accidents. There are many "crossovers", where people getting off one freeway and getting on the other have to cross paths with people doing the opposite, usually in a space of a hundred yards or so. No wonder there are such horrendous traffic jams here, everybody is in each others' way!

Your not kidding Steve thats for sure. I have passed people that are stopped becuase the road was clear. If I can't get over for someone that is merging I do try and slow down to an extent because there are plenty of people that do it for me in my Slow 210HP 35000LB work truck lol.

Here in Tulsa a 4 way stop is no problem. . works great. But if you have a signal thats out and they have a temp stop sign in place people are LOST. I can't seem to figure that out?? Is it becuase the sign in held up by sandbags in the middle instead of a pole on the corner?? Its wierd.

You all do know what Stop means don't you??

Yield, Now is that where you look around and then proceed like there is no one else on the road ? That's got to be it cause thats the way it always happening around here! I know one thing there is this big chrome thing on the front of my truck that i'd just love to plant in a few people's drivers side door. Lucky for them that I think more of my truck than some pi$$ poor driver.

My Corvette was t-boned by a lady who came to a stop and than proceeded, fortunatly it was a slow accident but still did over 3k in damages. Her problem was that she had to look thru the steering wheel and the vette was to low to see. I say you should have to have eye level as a minimum of 2 inches over the steering wheel to get a license. No drivers under 5 foot.

Let me tell you I've drove all over the country and the worst by far is the New Orleans area. They go completely out of their way to cut you off, pull out in front of you and close any space in a lane you are trying to get into. You can never use your blinker to change lanes. It serves as immediate notice for someone to floor it an keep you from changing lanes. Driving from TN one day it became increasingly noticible that the rudeness of drivers multiplied as I got closer to New Orleans. If you have been there you know what I mean. I don't know if its rudeness or stupidity. I worked down there for several years and had someone pull out in front (having to squeal the brakes frequently) of me so often that I became completely immune to it and it did not **** me off at all. I only lived 2 miles from my work site by the way.
