Will the steering column from a gas truck fit in our diesel trucks ? Or is there something thats different between the two. My son had a front tire blow at 70 mph , destroyed the fender, door, and broke the column. Have not had it apart yet to see what is broke, but you can move the wheel up and down about 4 inches and interfears with the shift lever (auto) . Looking for a column out of a diesel but not having much luck. Thanks, Doug

I believe they are the same my truck has a broken column too but hammer inflicted hehe. .

I just pulled mine out completely as part of a cab swap and I see nothing there that should be engine specific. I have not seen anything in the FSM that indicates that it should be different either.

The part of the wiring that is diesel specific on the speed control is outside the column if I remember correctly. The signals from the switches go straight to the ECM. I'm sure the gasser would do the same.

Just make sure that the wiper switch is the same or you will need to replace that with your old multifunction switch. The switch is different if you have intermittant wipers or not.

yes they will interchange with no problems its a easy swap just make sure wireing matches up is all .

? Will a steering shaft from a 2nd gen truck fit our 1st gens? I dont like the rag joint and was thinking of replacing with a second gen shaft. Any ideas?
