Safer Towing W/2500 Srw

Best enclosed trailer?

I have a 91 cherokee with NP 242, auto, solid front axle (no disconnects) that I am considering adding a tow bar for quick towing and such.

What I want to do is tow it with a bar, on it's own wheels with the transfer case in neutral.

Anyone do this and have problems?

Anyone do this without problems?

Lest see pix and details of the hitch.

I flat towed a 85 CJ7 for years. Not sure what transfer case you have but with the 300, in addition to neutral on the t-case, I have also disconnected rear drive shaft at rear axle and bungeed it up to the under body. The reason being is that there is a bearing in the rear out put shaft on the 300 t-case that does not get lubed while in neutral. Just something to check on your t-case. O/W I had no probs flat towing other than allowing for greater braking distances. Good luck.

I'd do like above and disconnect the rear driveshaft if you're going any kind of distance. Look in your owners manual and see what it says about flat towing. Is it an auto or a stick? Some vehicles are supposed to be t-case in high and trans in neutral, some tcase in neutral.
