Schaeffers does not make a full synthetic 15w40. It is a blend of 100% pure parraffin base oils and PAO synthetic base stocks with synthetic base stock. 5w40 is the only full synthetic oil, which is what I use. My family runs it exclusively in their farm equipment and buys the 15w40 by the drum and gear oil by the pail so when they are placing an order I'll throw in whatever I need. I get a very good deal on it considering the amount of oil the farm buys. Their rep is very knowledgeable and has them on a good maintenance program. They do oil changes in everything based on sampling rather than hours. He has helped reduce their maintenance costs substantially.

Here is my latest UOA for anyone interested.

LOL, never would have thought that! I see about $3.30 a gallon difference, kind of odd that the Schaeffers site is actually priced higher. Seems bass ackwards to me!

That's still somewhat pricey compared to what I pay though, I would wager even for small orders a rep would beat the Amazon price by a few bucks. Even if you can't find a rep in your area I would still call the closest one to you if your serious about buying. He may be able to turn you on to a local distributor or even a local business that might be willing to sell to you. A friend of mine buys his through the local road department. They pass on their cheaper prices as a community service.

We are running Shaffers in our 480ci 1300hp John Deere Diesel pulling tractor.. VERY good company, VERY good product. If you follow National tractor pulling Shaffers has a huge user base. BECAUSE it works in these very extreme conditions.
