6" Stacks (Bull Hauler's) and 19.5's are on

#2 home heating oil same as #2 diesel?

Whooshing sound? Like and air tank wiht a big leak? Sounds like it has an exhaust brake on to me. Twins at idle sound a lot like a single but the sounds waves are more chopped up. Almost a flutter sound at light throttle.

I'm still waiting on mine to get outta the body shop from the wreck acoupe weeks ago (drivin' me nuts using the wife's Geo). Once I do get it back I need to get a new EGT gauge as the 2 Autometer's I have had have been junk. Put in a new gooseneck hitch and build some running boards. Then figure out what to do with the hitch on the trailer and get it back home to see why the trailer brakes aren't working like they should.

Getting ready to put some mega miles on the 97, can't wait to get out there. Been through the oil, fuel filter, valves, Amsoiled the transmission, now got to replace the yoke seal on the rearend. 600 miles east to San Antonio (yes 600 miles and not even close to getting out of TX) for a couple of months then from there 1200 miles back home to Ohio for Turkey-day and deer hunting. Unfortunately I will be leaving the truck in Ohio and flying back here, but I will have the 1st Gen to run around in. I can't get enough of beating around in that thing, and funny thing is more chicks check me out in it than the 97...

Cant anyone answer my question ?????

Why the whossing noise form ext. of some CTD ??? What causes that ??

Anyone?

DM

Ive got a list of front end part's waiting on the coin:

2 new dana 60 hub and rotor assy.

1 new spindle

1 new set of 35 spline lock outs, or drive pucks??? not sure yet

new wheel bearings and seals

just to get the truck moving again

Man its loud.

Would of never guessed it to be an exhaust brake

So why does a exhaust brake create so much Air Flow VIA exhaust ?

I remember contacting Cummins when I got my truck and beleave it or not they told me

You cant run an exhaust brake on the 24V because it will bend the valves

I swear to you thats exactly what they said .

They must of develpoed a new one that works sence then or some thing cause' i seen many of a 24V with an exaust brake.

DM

Somebody was misinformed that told you that. The 24v was designed from the beginning for exhaust brakes. With the 12v they came stock with 30psi exhaust springs and unless you upgrade them to 60psi springs you have to run a reduced effect brake. The 24v came with the 60psi springs stock. The reason it makes noise is because the airflow is moving faster through a smaller area. Rather than one big pipe coming out the air is being squezzed through a small circle around the outside edge of the exhaust brake flap. Think of how you whistle - you can't do it with your mouth completely open but if you close your lips down smaller you can.

Just ordered an ATS 3 piece manifold last night so I can start putting my pile of nuts and bolts back together... hopefully by Christmas I'll have the old girl back on the road :)

Gauges!!

My Autometer gauges finally came in, now I am just waiting for the boost bolt, painless wiring kit from Geno's and the trans cooler line coming from Mass Diesel. :D The waiting is killing me :{
