When I was at the Freightliner dealership/certified Cummin's warranty station, the salesman in the parts dept. was telling me about Lucas oils and they were owned by Cummin's.

Has anyone tried Lucas oil stabilizers or thier fuel treatment?

http//:www.lucasoil.com I couln't find anything that supports his claim.

I can't vouch for Cummins owning lucas, but I have used lucas for years and have been very pleased with the results. I currently have 150,000k+ miles on my engine with many extra hours idling and have had no problems with the injection pump or other parts. The oil is alway clean when I change it as well. Course I have been through a few lift pumps, but that isn't the additives fault.

I seriously doubt there is any sort of affiliation though.

Summary: ram isb oil rec's

Solution:

Thanks for your email regarding oils, oil stabalizers and Lucas Oil - with whom we are not familiar. We recommend commercially available API classification oils, usually 15W-40 for our diesel engines, the classification depending on the year, but oils are most always backwards compabible, so the current CH-4 classification would apply. In off-road high sulfur applications, natural gas application and silver bearing applications (not our products) other oils are used. We require no oil stabalizers and caution against using ANY oil additive, period. Refer to the Operation & Maintenance (O&M) Manual for your specific engine, market application and any other relevant factors ... . for the proper maintenance and operation of your Cummins Engine.
