Does the use of an EZ with the boost elbow installed prevent the computer from logging a trouble code when boost exceeds 21 psi? If so, that explains a great many things.
Yesterday, I picked my truck up from the dealer after they installed a new driver's side mirror. From there I went straight to Home Despot for some supplies. On the way home, accelerating onto the freeway, the check engine light came on.
I went home, dropped off the supplies, and went back to the dealer. They put it right back into the service bay, and I caught a shuttle ride home.
A few hours later, the service rep called to say the code was overboost at the wastegate. My EZ had been removed before I took the truck in, but the boost elbow was still in.
What infuriates me is the dealer had the nerve to blame the problem on my exhaust brake, and said they could void the warranty on the wastegate because I had "installed performance parts," meaning the US Gear exhaust brake. What a crock.
Now, I want a way to read the codes from the computer so I know what they are before I bother the dealer with 'em. If I had known it was the overboost code, I would have just cleared it and not worried about it. It would have saved a lot of frustration.
