Competition Race Help

They don't like to support weight for long periods of time, or be exposed to sun light. I would keep a minimal amount of air in them while they are in storage.

If they are on a car either take them off or support the the car to keep wieght off of the tires. They Flatspot really easy. I would say your doing good to find a set of slicks that will hold air :D lol. Mine go flat as soon as you turn the garage light off

My racing buddies with bikes use nitrogen instead of air to fill their slicks.

Less prone to pressure changes due to heat, and no moisture to rust the rims.

If storing the car for a long period, use jack stands to keep the weight off the tires, or throw a set of junk tires on it and store the slicks on their side out of the sun.

Don't store slicks on there sides it will cause problems with the side walls!!!! The best way to store them is to hang them off the ground using the center of the rim. We always air them up to 15 PSI while they where in winter storage.

Best way to keep the slicks I've found is as drawson says,,Now for those who do not want to remove them, kack the car up and support it on the frame with a quality jackstand and allow the suspension to hang freely without the race tires sitting on the ground(air or no air, does not matter),,I cover the sidewalls inside and out with a good tire dressing to keep the sidewalls from dry rotting or cracking, then I use a cover over the tires front and rear to not allow sunlight to hit them,,Bad340,one of the tricks used to help keep air in slicks is the old dish soap trick,,Mix a liberal amount of dish soap and water so it is slippery to your feel and pour it inside the new slick and rotate it around making sure the entire center is covered and wet and the dump out the excess,,Allow them to air dry in the sun or warm garage then put them on the wheels,,While it is not a perfect fix,it will allow your meats to hold air considerably longer than they had before... .....
