Does muffler size matter?

I found some Magnaflow's at itpdiesel.com and they show 4 different sizes for the diesel muffler. Diameter is all 7" but the body size choices are 14", 20", 24" and 30". Overall length is 20", 27", 30" and 36". The one I saw posted here was part number 12772. Aluminized was $105 and SS was $130. Not much difference. Does the size of the body have any effect other than tone? Want to put a new muffler on soon so I appreciate any advice.

GSALTZMAN, that is the same Magnaflow part number that I put on my 03 and I like the way it sounds and the lack of back pressure that resulted from the change out from stock. The price you were quoted is about 30 bucks cheaper that I could find it on this side of the big river. The SS version was close to 200 bucks, didn't even consider it. If you put on this model, the muffler shop or you, will have to make a short 4" slightly curved piece of pipe to get it to fit, and then weld a couple of hangers on the muffler. I sure like mine!
