Like BG said, use the bearing splitter, it is a two piece clamp with a sharp edge that will clamp between the bearing and case. Then you pull on the clamp with a regular two jaw puller. The Dana axles of all sizes are a bear to work on with out the special tools. I have built lots of them without the tools, but be prepared to spend lots of time and it will try your patience to the limit. Keep track of all the shim packs and know where they came from, then use new ones of the same amount and start from there. If the carrier, housing and ratio didn't change, you will be close.
