as an option - like a 241 HD with the snow plow option in a 2nd gen??? My son is picking up an 06 and I was wondering if the snowplow option was the same as before?????

They all come with the big 273 now. Can't get snow plow prep w/ Cummins now. At least the on-line site won't let you order it that way. Also didn't see a camper special prep.

My '03 QC came with a snow plow prep package. Not sure if they can still be ordered that way but at one time they could.

It looks like the only difference between the 241 and the 241HD used in the 2nd gens is the fluid capacity, but the max torque is the same.

And the fact the 241HD has a PTO option... and supposedly a little wider chain... if you look at them side by side, the HD is also somewhat bigger than the regular 241... maybe for the PTO option?

Next question is, with a max torque of 7800+lb/ft, how close are some of us to grenading this thing? Torque multiplication and gearing of the trans and such...

I believe you would spin the tires before you grenaded a transfercase... unless you have purposely weighted your truck for pulling or added sticky tires for racing... you shouldn't be able to get the torque required to break the tcase to the ground before the tires spin... even in 4wd.

I believe that the NVG 271 is considerably stronger than the NVG 241 HD .

I believe you are correct... I think the 271 is quite a bit stronger than even the stout 241HD IIRC from what I have read...
