In Hawaii anything over 9 ft. wide must have a police escort. The police dept. here has off duty officers available for such duties. You need one in front and one in back of the the rig.

Guess what, I think the picture may have been taken in Chelan. A guy here does boat repair and drives the same looking truck. His shop is only about 1/2 mile from the boat launch on the lake on a lightly traveled road, I've seen him hauling boats bigger than that though. Building in the background looks familiar also. He isn't a TDR member, says he doesn't have time, but has three CTD Rams.

That truck is not even squatting low either, light boat?

You can almost hear the proud Cummins owner say "Oh, this is just my little pond boat, I don't use the 3500 unless I tow my BIG boat!

The company that makes the boat is called Max Weld, and they are located in Oregon. If you look real close, you can see that there is another vehicle behind the boat. Could be a rear spotter. Also, this might be a short "local" transport from building yard to water. Hard to say.

My guess is the boat doesn't weigh as much as a comparable size fiberglass boat. The boat looks like it has a very wide beam also, so I can't image what kind of tow mirrors would provide rear-view access. I would think the safest way to move something this large would be with a trailing car and two way communications.

There is another picture on their website. It just shows a trailer for a different boat. The trailer has 4 axles!

Still, nice truck and nice boat!

If any moron (and we all know there are plenty of those out there) tried to pass the truck and trailer, and the driver of the truck changed lanes and hit him, it would be the truck driver's fault, not the moron's. Could the driver of this truck see if there's a soccer-mom minivan full of kids next to the stern of the boat?
It's possible that the driver of the truck could see back there because the boat is sitting up pretty high, but I doubt if it's legal to tow something this wide without towing mirrors.
Looks to me like he's a little too far to the left and he's forcing the red Dodge onto the shoulder of the road. Or is he about to make a left turn... by crossing a double yellow line?

I was going to comment on the possibility of the vehicle behind him being a "pilot car", but I don't see any antennas on the truck. I suppose they could be using hand-held radios.

na not mine but that was a heck of a load I'm pulling in that picture, I think it was 43,000 lbs. A little over my gvw, and my right mirror couldn't see well behind me #ad

the hensly clip on mirrors can be set pretty wide! I bet they would go wide enough to see around more then 10' wide.

The boat looks like a catamaran, he can probably see out the back through the tunnel, a friend has a 36' Skater offshore boat, 10 1/2' beam, I've towed it with my truck a couple of times and can see straight out the back and under the sides with my regular mirrors. We raced it 2 times last year in California, towing it there and back was an adventure in itself.
