I am getting ready to hook up some electronic gadgets and was wandering if I were to unhook the batteries if I would loose the accumulated info on my trip computer (ie: hours run, avg. milage, etc)? does any one know this? thanks in advance.

Tom - If I'm remembering correctly from the owner's manual (Y2K), the Avg Fuel Economy (A. F. E) never accumulates more than 300 miles worth of data. After 300 miles its starts overwriting the oldest data with the newest data. So as far as that, it doesn't matter if you unplug your batteries or not, you'll be back at the maximum accumulated A. F. E. after 300 miles.

As far as the other ones..... they'd probably get reset. But which ones really matter, besides maybe E. T. & the trip (and the trip only goes to 999 miles, doesn't it?).

So I'd say, unplug it if you need to.

Don't know if they are the same but on my 99 it loses everything on the computer and erases the trip mileage on the speedometer, keeps total miles only.
