Does your truck die after a short while?

I've had a code P0622- Generator Field Control Circuit. Engine kept dying. Found my problem. Thought i'd share.

I had installed a continuous relay to charge my pop up camper battery. Would charge the 2nd battery when my engine was running and not drain my start battery when using the camper.

My Son gave me some fog lights for Christmas. We installed and in my excitement looking for a power source, I got out my test light and checked for power on the selenoid. (The fuse was bad, but looked good.) While troubleshooting I found that I had hooked the fog lights directly to the power up wire to the selenoid before this bad fuse into my fog lights! This wire was directly tied into my fuse box, not protected buy a fuse! (was using the selenoid fuse for the camper lights protection).

Bottom line- I connected a wire bypassing fuses to the fog lights and my truck was protecting itself from a dead short!

IF YOUR TRUCK WON'T RUN FOR MORE THAN 10 MINUTES- WHAT HAVE YOU DONE LATELY TO YOUR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM?

Truck is sometimes smarter than us...

Hope this helps someone from the headache I went thru figuring out my self inflicted delemma.

Good advice. When ever there's a problem with my truck I have to ask myself what I touched last.
I've known techs that had such ego's that this would never even enter there mind.
