I have a 99 2500 with the travel center dome light. The button for the passenger side decided it was time to south. Anyone have a lead on replacements or how to fix the plunger switch? I have a second question that I will post separately but will put it hear as well.

Has anyone had the vent tube from the front axle (Dana) burp up oil? Mine burped 2 oz of oil through the vent line behind the air box while driving in TX at 80moh and 107 Degrees F. Took into he shop to have it checked and they reported that the inside looked clean and crisp. Just did a fluid change and off I went. Any thoughts to what might have happened?

For your light question it is serviced as the wiring not switch by itself. If it is still available,I haven't needed one for a while

The diff is often an oil overdue for a change issue-foaming. Jeep actually had to come up with an anti-foaming additive quite a few years ago

You can fix the dome light. Take it apart. The plastic "frame" will be broken. Glue it back together and drive on. Mine has been fine for over 5 years since I glued it.

I take it that this is a Dodge part for the light.

The foaming answer is very logical as I was about 15K miles over due on the service.

The only service parts I know of are Dodge... ...

As for the oil, yep, the 107* is the problem. I've had several come out the transmission, t-case, rear diff... ... they start out cold, slinging oil, which gets into the tube mid morning when the oil is expanding from heat, pushing it out the tube. No big deal, other than the mess. And foaming can be a problem at times, too, although I don't see it with the higher viscosity oils near as much, myself. Welcome to Texas.....

As far as the light goes. I had the same problem. The button switch in mine was broken. I ended up going to the dealer and ordered a new one, which was a complete harness which included both switches. I kept the old harness with one good switch so if it happened again I could just replace the switch.

As far as the oil goes, it did happen with me as well while driving long distance in hot weather. It was concerning but I checked oil and seemed OK. So I suspect it is a heat related issue but I would keep an eye on in for sure.

How did you get the old swithces and harness out. I see there are two tabs holing it inplace but when I release them there is still something else holding it in place. Don't want to force something and end up with more broken parts.

Thanks for the reply on the front dif. Seems that has been the comon denominator with everyone.
