My neighbor has a 2000 35000 dually, loaded. He added a switch to turn off his relay for his camper, grounded it to the dash metal now his dome light will not go out. Any ideas? Pulled out the add a fuse and the light still stays on. Could this be back feeding through the ground on the dash metal ? Any help would be appreciated.

I have several accessories grounded to the metal frame behind the dash, and no problems there--might want to check his wiring on the other end, though.

Also, if he disconnects the switch/relay/whatever he added (all of it) does the light still stay on? If so, make sure the dome light isn't turned on at the switch (yeah, it's stupid, but I've done stuff like that before more times than I can count). Also, might want to check at the door pin switches. My dome light started staying on, I found that the plastic on the switch had worn enough that the switch didn't close all the way sometimes and the light would stay on. Put a little shim behind it, and it works fine again.

Found the problem with the dome light. He put a piece of wood between the door and the switch so the light would not stay onwhile he worked on his new hook up. He forgot the wood was there and tried to close the door. Un knowing to him when he tried to close the door he push the switch in too far so it was not closing. The switch is adjustable by pulling or pushing in and out. We took the switch out, adjusted it all the way out, put in back in and closed the door slowly and could here the switch clicking in. The dome light now works again.
